Lets say you have everything nice and planned. You have a 5 minute gap in your schedule where you can change skills, and a skill set to end in that time.
Just before you login the server goes down unexpectedly. You now have to wait at least 10 minutes before you can log back in, assuming an instant reboot. But in 5 minutes, you have to leave.
If you have a queue of sufficient length, this problem won't happen. ---------------------------------------------- I support skill queues. |

Maybe you're not supposed to train 100% efficiently all day long. If you can't manage to plan your skills on your own, get over it.
1 - Do you have any evidence to back up your claims of CCP's intent with the skill queue beyond "it would make a good argument against a skill queue". 2 - If so, please also explain why CCP didn't bring it up when they talked about skill queues at this CSM meeting ? 3 - CCP's intent with skill training is irrelevant. The important fact is that the current skill training system rewards people who can log in for a quick skill change and/or people who don't have unexpected things happening outside of Eve to delay skill changes.

Use your fk'n brains and not evemon for a change.
If you cannot create a long term flexiable training plan and switch training to a longer skill before you log when required so you don't waste the opportunity to progress you quite frankly don't deserve too.
In eve not paying attention costs you personally in every other aspect of the game and we live with the harsh consequences, skill training needs that too.
/end rant
Yes, its easy to plan for expected real life events. But what about unexpected ones, like the servers crashing just before your skill ends ? ---------------------------------------------- I support skill queues |

infact, it's been the major barrier for me in developing an alt, so I could see this making more $$ for the ccp in the long run if my case wasn't unique.
I might also pay for an alt account if there was a skill queue. ---------------------------------------------- I support skill queues |

Edited by: Hesod Adee on 07/01/2009 20:09:35 Yesterday I had to relog in the middle of a fleet op because I was sitting at 3 minutes till my skill ended and my character sheet wasn't displaying anything (a common bug)
A skill queue would of meant that I could of stayed in fleet. |

if no pay = no train then not online / being afk = no skill change
if you only want a plan go and download eve mon for example
Doesn't a wildly used third party App show that there is a problem with the skill training system ?
How do you plan for the unexpected events ? Because if you can answer this last question, you are doing much better than anyone else who is telling us to plan our skills without telling us how to plan for unexpected things.
Also, who was asking for ghost training to be removed ? Be sure to link us to your proof, as I'm not aware of anyone commenting on it until after CCP removed it. |

Originally by: barvo Why, of course, y'know how everyone uses EFT? There must clearly be something wrong with the way every single piece of ship equipment works that we have to play around in EFT to work out our fittings.
No, it just means that the equipment interactions are too complex for most players to do in their heads. So my suggestion to fix the problems that EFT shows is for CCP to make an official version. Though that would be a waste of time as it wouldn't do anything that EFT doesn't.
But a skill queue would add functionality that Evemon can't.
Quote: Oh and I think Windows needs to be changed because I need my third party mouse to make it work. And yeah, the remote control to my TV needs some love from the developers too, I had to go to Big W for some third party batteries yesterday.
There is a difference between something being designed to require third party support (you examples here) and something that had third party support show up afterwards.
Quote: So basically, no mate, just because we use Eve Mon doesn't mean there's anything wrong.
Now could you answer the other point in my post: How do you plan for the unexpected events ? Because it is really the more important one as Evemon can only deal with the events you know about in advance. ---------------------------------------------- I support skill queues |
