I'm setting up a new corp (again), and calling it Special Circumstances. Also, I'm starting up an alliance called The Culture. If there's anyone out there with silly ship names (the ones recognizing the subject here will know what I'm talking about), and want to join the fun, You can spot me floating around Amarr space in my Lapsed Pasifict or Killing Time, or, join the channels public channels Excession, Consider Phlebas or Culture Ship names. I use Exession as the main one - kinda the chat room of the Minds.

Love the Culture novels. BTW, it's "Iain" not "Ian"; here's his site. Neat concept...lots of cool ship and other naming possibilities. GL with it.

'Excession' is my favourite book although 'Player of games' is up there.
He is the best out there although Alastair Reynolds 'Prefect' was excellent.
Nice idea and good luck with it. |

I don't have an exclusive "Banks" naming regime, but ship names so far have included:
Stinging Criticism - Rifter
Short Burst of Irony - Thrasher
Innocent Party - Hurricane
Slow Reader - Tempest
Monkey **** - Wolf (exception to prove the rule)
Good luck with your corp and eventual alliance, will keep an eye out for a culture blob on the influence map.

Now this sounds like something id like to be a part of. Im a huge Iain M Banks fan, even got a personalised, autographed copy of Matter when he was in Glasgow. Hit me up ingmae with and EVEmail when things progress a bit furthre.

Alliance is up and running. Had to cheat a bit, because names are snatched already, and char/corp/alliance names stack.
Corp name is SC Special Circumstances
Alliance name is TC The Culture
