Hi,
In the spirit of the Jita Mineral Index, I'd like to get some feedback on a similar page that provides mineral bid/ask for other hubs besides Jita. Granted Jita is the be-all and end-all of trading, but sometimes it's just easier to buy/sell in regions other than The Forge.
The THMI lists mineral prices from EVE-Central data and provides a method to download the data in XML format. At this point the application is considered alpha, as I'm looking for ideas to develop new functionality and prioritization. The prices appear okay, but I'd be careful using them for manufacturing.
Site Link: http://www.gavinadams.org/eve/thmi.php
I'd like to thank Sysion for the index idea and design (which I done stole), and EVE-Central for the daily feeds.
Feedback via email or via this thread appreciated!
Next up is a similar Salvage Index and other components.

Sweet! I have been wanting to tackle the exact same problem as you lately.
However, my concern has been that the data is not really up to date. What's your experience with that? Is the jita market prices generally up to date enough for it to be reliable?
If not, then it's time I pull the data from jita daily and upload it.

The daily files from EVE-Central have the time that the entries were reported. I could add in the "reportedtime" value to the tables (and XML export). From my experience, Jita is updated at least 3-4 times over the course of the day.
Once I move to using the email delivery service, the figures will be updated on a consistent basis. But hey, everyone needs to do their duty to get prices updated! :)

Pretty good, how about a table with the cheapest of all trade hub? I don't really want to flip through all of the hub's table to figure out which hub has the cheapest price.

Edited by: Krylon Rhae on 17/10/2008 03:24:51 Chian... outstanding! Thanks for the time and effort you have put into this. Much appreciated.
Is there any value in having a table that shows the overall average prices across all of the trade hubs? Just a thought.
One last thought... could you add ice/isotope prices and perhaps raw ore prices as well? Thanks again

This is a fantastic addition.
Only thing I can suggest/request is a table with raw ore and ice/ice products as I feel it would complete the 'set'
Great idea and direct and to the point with the tables.

I'm new to the forums (lurker in the past as denoted by my beautiful avatar :) ). Is there a way to track new posts to a thread?
Originally by: Brock Nelson Pretty good, how about a table with the cheapest of all trade hub? I don't really want to flip through all of the hub's table to figure out which hub has the cheapest price.
Interesting idea. I could create a generated "trade hub" that has and additional field showing the best price per mineral. I'm working on the basis of 1024x768 for screen size, let me play around with the formatting to see if I can add this field, and a date/time entry too (in support of more dynamic pricing).
Originally by: Kiki Arnolds A minimum order volume threshold would be a good idea... knowing that someone is selling 20 morhpite at price x isn't usefull
I'm not sure if I understand what you're looking for Kiki. The "Volume at Price" is sort of a threshold of the top or bottom 1% of all orders in that hub. At the time the prices were calculated, there was at least that amount of volume at the listed price or better. Better being the price or lower for ask/sell orders, or higher if looking at bid/buy orders.
Originally by: Krylon Rhae Is there any value in having a table that shows the overall average prices across all of the trade hubs? Just a thought.
One last thought... could you add ice/isotope prices and perhaps raw ore prices as well?
There are a couple other sites I've seen that have Tranquility average prices. Again, this isn't difficult to create. As per Brock's suggestion, I could also create a generated "trade hub" of average prices. I'll add it to the list.
Once I have minerals down, I intend to start working on different groups of items, including salvage, ore/ice, isotopes, etc. To be honest, as a new player (less than a year) I've only just expanded beyond mining into production. Other than selling salvage, I had no idea what it was used for! Same holds true for other items, but adding additional grouping is easy. From a design perspective I'll leave them separate. You can still get data via XML to combine.
Originally by: xxx Syrinx Saldaner
Yup! More than one request for the same thing (see above) pushes things up on the list!
Originally by: LadyGinaHead Any chance you could add Oursulaert (Essence)?
Easier done then said. It'll show up in tomorrow's index.
Thanks everyone for the feedback and ideas!

Thanks for the thread link, this is helpful to cross-reference against the hubs listed on Ombey's site. I'll add Eram too.

Thanks. Datacore definitely (I'm slowly training for Invention myself) and I'll add personalized hubs to the list. Couple was it could be done. Either via browser cookies or a list of hubs as key/value pairs.

Upcoming site change:
Due to the great response I've received to date, I'm moving the THMI from my personal site to one that dedicated to EVE resources. The new link is active now at:
http://eve-factory.com/thmi/thmi.php
I think I've changes all references to reflect the new site. the old site will stay active for a week or so (they're on the same system), but all new changes will happen at EVE-Factory. I'll put in redirects for all pages except the API page. However, for those using the API, it will go offline at the end of this week (Friday or Saturday).
Hopefully the change isn't a burden on anyone, please let me know if need additional time to adjust for use on your side.

Rens can be added. That's the purpose of this post is to collect feedback.
Some may have experienced the beginnings of the salvage index. Mineral page reverted (sorry, missed a couple places where I now filter on group types) to only showing minerals (duh), but the salvage data is being collected.

Hi Chian,
Feel free to use this Yahoo Pipe I set up a few days ago: http://pipes.yahoo.com/mcavoy/evecentral
It lets you pre-filter eve-central data.
I use it in my own production Google spreadsheet: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p1RZODCggDcq4_N0pG5hSZA
It might save you some processing power.

I've added the salvage group to EVE-Factory. It works the same way as minerals.
- I used the numerical order of salvage items. Is this normal, or is there some other preferred order
- API for the salvage hub is working
- Next up is Ore/Ice, then isotopes
Please let me know if there are any problems. Keep the comments coming!

Weekly Update:
Site location: http://eve-factory.com/
Now servicing Minerals and Salvage. I did start tracking ore, but to be honest, there are very few orders that take place in the monitored trade hubs. And since the purpose of the Trade Hub site is, well, trade hubs, I'm going to pull this out. Maybe a Region Hub for things such as ore and other disperse items.
Rens and a few other hubs have been added. I want to cap the list at 20 hubs, so it's pretty much done. If there are other hubs of interest, please let know and I'll see about taking out a smaller hub (e.g., Mista in Domain).
Also added is a CSV and HTML table format for the API. I'm going produce a few methods for using the data in Excel, but also wanted to demonstrate some open source methods (OpenOffice, Google Spreadsheet, etc.). New outputs are available for both minerals and salvage.
Once isotopes are done, I'll start working on a drill-down for each table showing last week, month, quarter and yearly stats. With graphics. And cake! Okay, no cake, but typical red/green showing movement.
Next is an update to get timely data. This will entail adding a field showing the last EVE update date/time, both on the web pages and in the download. To limit potential breakage of API calls, I'll add the value to the end of the list.
After that, there has been interest in a custom hub list. I'll probably implement with cookies and/or a specific URL.

Thanks to all the feedback from users the next iteration of the hub index is about to be rolled out. New features include:
- Real-time Data - All hub prices will be updated in near real time (every 5 minutes) based on incoming records from EVE-Central.
- Hub Page Layout Changes - The pages now show entries from the last 24 hours, and show the EVE time that the entry was made.
- Minerals and Salvage and Isotopes, Oh My! - The isotope index joins the existing mineral and salvage indices. Ore was looked at, but systems that aggregate ore are different than the traditional hubs. Also, with the base, 5%+ and 10% variants, the tables were huge.
- Historical Data (Part I) - A link on each hubÆs table will provide a current price, yesterday, 1 week, 1 month, 3 month, and 6 month price and percentage change. Part II will fully populate a full 6 months back.
- API Format Change - The reported_at field now contains the actual EVE date and time the order was reported to the trade hub. The old value was when a user made a call to the API. Also, the XML schema has moved this element into the individual lines. This may have an effect of userÆs use of the XML API.
The biggest change is to the API and if anything is broken, it probably is here. Please let me know ASAP if there are any errors so I can review and correct. Responses to this post or email are the best ways to notify me.
These changes complete the 1.0 functionality. Further effort will be made to keep the pages XHTML compliant; validate the data for use in other systems (e.g., BSAC); and to populate the historical data for all items. Other trade hubs may be brought online for capital components, drone loot, or other industrial enterprises.
Please let me know if there are any problems, IÆm looking for 1.x and 2.0 features that can be added before embarking onto my next project.

Datacores and ice ores (I'll add them to the isotopes since that's where they come from) coming up next. I've redone the back-end so it's easier to add new hubs.
I'd prefer to focus on the major hubs first then see where this goes. it may make more sense to start tracking all hubs and all players to select which ones they wish to view.
What would "meta 4+" items entail? Cap ship components or something else?
So far the realtime processing is working okay except when I get an outlier from EVE-Central. Soon to remove the "beta" and go 1.0.
