I am curious about this issue myself. If one can choose who to buy from, could these lead to the avoidance of getting ore/items from known isk sellers? Or will people still not care and buy from the cheapest they can?

I think you answered your own question.
Yes people will choose to buy from select people. And Yes there will still be people that don't care and will buy from anyone.

Does it relate to all market transactions or just contacts? Either way i dont think it matters, isk farmers always sell at lowest price to make sure they get isk.
People always want to spend less isk on their stuff, so in all i dont think it will affect anything.

How, precisely, will you be able to tell? It's not like they're going to call their store "Ike the Isk Seller's Imperial Item Emporium".

Have a look at the timecodes forum if you want the answer. People honestly don't seem to care if they're receiving isk from isk farmers etc.

People will choose what is cheapest when they buy and sell to the highest bidder when they sell. No matter what any storefronts say, if they don't match lowest price, nobody will buy from them.
That said, since this deal (from what I understand) won't be a contract until you select to order it in the store, it will be a useful thing to know a couple of good stores to get your items to check if their offered price is better than contracts before you order.
However, I'm wondering about how the build-to-order system will work out. If the storefront does not deliver, what happens? Who wants to wait a week for every order to be built? etc etc..

as cool as it would be for normal market orders to go into a storefront, i think it would totally breakup the market system of price comparison. but at the same time, listing 30 contracts for identical items can be very tedious.
that being said, i think CCP should do something similar to eBay storefronts, where the listings can appear in the normal market but are also special listings for storefronts. basically they would be like market orders, listed along side the rest as normal, but customers would have the option to "view other listings by this seller" and go to their storefront. this would be nice for selling "commodities" or "stock items", but what about things that normally can only be found in contracts like pre-fitted ships or bundles of items?
there should be a way to setup an inventory of identical contracts without having to go through the same routine from scratch every time. storefronts by nature typically have many items that are all the same, selling at the same price. most vendors setup special inventory product codes and everything for each kind of item they sell.
so for EVE storefronts, listings should be treated like contracts but with the option to make an "inventory item" out of it, basically a template. then when you need to put 50 more up for sale, it can be done much more easily. and the sales would not be treated like a bunch of separate contracts, but more like sales inventory.
this would make it easier for the buyer, as well as they seller. how many times do you browse contracts and see a screen full of virtually identical listings from the same seller? imagine if they were all combined into one, but with a count of how many are available.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
but storefronts will ruin the market system of the guy that persists the longest at refreshing his orders gets his stuff sold first. which something which they damm right deserve ---
