Edited by: Darrin Tobruk on 27/06/2004 01:03:25 ... Don't come smashing.
A friend and I were bored today, so we thought we'd mess around with the criminal flagging system. He makes a noob character and we meet in a 0.5 system. He locks and shoots me, I retaliate without any problems. However, when his rookie ship explodes, the pod is still flashing red, the same as his ship after he initiated combat with me. So, he says, "Shoot me," and I do so. Seconds later, Concord has me floating in a pod next to my can, and my friend's alt's corpse.
Luckily, my ship was insured and I got my stuff back, so the only thing I'm out is the security status for killing someone. And, no, I didn't read about the criminal flagging change, so I don't know if this has been covered. If so, everyone have a laugh at my expense.
Such is life.
EDIT: I forgot cr@ck is a naughty word _______________________________________________ Eris Discordia: On the scale of funny and constructive it scores low, real low. |

Well, if you think about it it makes perfect sense for high empire space (0.5+). Someone shoots at you, you have the right to fire back to defend yourself, but not the right to murder the guy. Once he was in his pod he wasn't threat anymore so I think the Concord response makes sense.
Personally, of course I would want to pod kill the guy, but you should only be able to "get away with it" (discounting the sec hit) in -0.5 space.
Just my 2 isk

If it makes perfect sense that you are not allowed to kill the guy outright it would make perfect sense for the pod NOT to flash like that non? -------------------------

'Tis a bug, and I swear I saw it in a changelog somewhere, that this is gonna get fixed... Now I can't find that thread/changelog though.

Correct. I didn't cover that point in my original post (apologies).
It still makes perfect sense for him to have been killed by concord, he committed the crime a of murder and should be punished.
It just doesn't make sense that the pod flashed red. That is surely a bug.
So yes, I agree, non?

Edited by: Darrin Tobruk on 28/06/2004 00:28:37 Agreed. Even I'm not stupid enough to pod someone in 0.5 or higher. (or in empire, for that matter). But, the pod was flashing red so I thought, "What the hell" and shot him. If he hadn't been flashing, I wouldn't have blasted him.
EDIT: huked on fonix wurkd fer me

well, since CONCORD doesn't pod, what makes you think you can?
and, i've been able to warp away from CONCORD a few times. just gotta be lucky/skilled, or whichever you want to call it...
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |
