Don't worry, use that self-booming device, afterall you don't want anyone running around with your frozen corpse, right?

Here's a serious answer: no
btw: would real life insurance companies pay you for your house if you set it on fire?

Do rl insurance companies still feel like insuring you of you lose a battleship each day...?
They do in eve and they do they pay for self destructing i believe ---------------------------

do something to make concord dislike you, i've dont that to get a scorp insurance payout, just strip it, put a civy gat on & take a pot shot at something, you'll need to leave the system, but you'll have a pod & insurance to help you on your way <><><><> Freelancing Corp |

why take a sec hit for concord to do it for you? Just visit a belt and let the rats do it for you.
anyway, I thought that self-destruct does pay insurance. And I have seen many posts noting that one.

I've just had a thought on this subject.
What about the cost to actually insure the battleship. Platinum insurance on a Scorpion is over 20 million so unless you got the scorpion for (Insurance Payout - Incurance Cost) youd lose money.
As in why spend 20 mill to insure a scorpion for a payout of 60mill (guess) if it costs you more than 40 mill to build it. For example, you buy the scorpion for 55 mill (dirt cheap) insure for 20 mill (75 mill) for only a sixty something million payout. You lose several million isk overall.
Unless you can get the scorpion dirt cheap your only losing money. Many people forget about the money to actually insure the ship in the first place, and with battleships, it aint chump change lol. Not totally sure if my logic is right on this one, just my thoughts.

Edited by: Synaig0 on 27/06/2004 23:55:06 Edited by: Synaig0 on 27/06/2004 23:54:22 I think u may be missing the point here..
I have a scorp.. got it for 58 mil.. payed 21 mil insurance so I have a 71 mil payout.. In this case.. If I wanted to get rid of my scorp... or the insurance is about to run out.. I would save a lot of cash by destructing it instead of selling it for 60 mil.. (60 or 71 mill) or reinsuring it (71-58=13 mil back ---> new cost insurance + new scorp = 8 million isk lost (71-58-21= -8 mill)
So in every case where u want to get rid off / reinsure your bs.. destructing is the best option

How many ships do you have to destruct for the insurance before CCP gets on your back for exploiting?
I make kestrels; even taking the insurance cost into account, I would make more by blowing them up than by selling them. It seems wrong, and I'm quite sure it could be called an exploit if they chose to make it one.
I suppose it is because they are being sold too cheap!
If you're reading this, someone from CCP, I have never deliberately blown up a ship for the insurance yet.
