First, you can't steal salvage
Second, you could have a disposable ship in the hanger for people like that(alts help with this).
Third, if you don't like it War dec them or just dock and cancel the mission.
PS I would much rather fight them for the hell of it. Nothing like undocking your alts in recons and kicking their teeth in.

What do you mean with "flip" and "wardec"?

First: not true, yesterday while I was on mission two guys popped with fast ships and salvaged my wrecks. Second: unfortunately I use just one account, but even if I have an alt, how can I attack them without concord pop and attack me?? Third: How to war declare a single player?

Under the current mechanics salvage is free-for-all, like asteroids. If someone salvages your mission, oh well.
If they are stealing the actual loot, then that is theft, and they are flagged temporarily for kill rights. *Make sure they are flagged before locking and letting rip.* Remember, salvaging other's wrecks is legal, as is mining other's asteroids, etc.
If it's a constant annoyance, then you need to consider running missions in a deserted area, where 20 people in local is peak. I suspect you're doing missions in an overpopulated area and these guys are merely making a profit off solo empire mission runners.
Lastly, and most importantly, you need to join a good corp. You can play solo all you want, but a good corp can swoop in and gank people stealing your drops. Might even find some corp mates who will want the salvage/mine the mission themselves, and then you'd have a profit-farming mission team going. Anyway, bottom line - being a single player in a multiplayer game is counter-productive.

So many tears!
Salvage doesn't belong to you. It's free for anyone to take. Most of this wreck removal is done in high-sec. Not much you can do about it from a killing standpoint.
Solution is simple: mission elsewhere.
Ninja-salvaging is no worse than piracy, non-consensual PvP, etc. it's part of the game. Welcome to EVE.

But for how long? CCP were always adamant that jetcans were not supposed to be protected, that anything dumped in space was free-for-all and not owned by anybody, and that you had no right to retaliate if someone took off with it. Then one day they did a complete volte-face for no good reason and introduced flagging.
I'd guess that within six months, salvage will not be free-for-all any more. ________________________________________________

From a straight risk/return perspective, you shouldn't fight back against the thieves. It is quicker and safer to just ignore them, either complete the mission and let them steal, or leave and hope the rats don't treat them nicely...
When you choose to engage them, you run a very real risk of getting more than you bargained for. While they may be in a destroyer NOW, who is to say what they will come back in if you pop them... they have 15 minutes to get in the biggest baddest PvP ship they can fly and come back to savage your mission running ship. They may well have remote repping friends too. If you have backup, and can refit for PvP then the battle is on. At which point, your doing it for the PvP, not to make the mission running more effeciant. PvP is good, but don't shoot back unless you want to engage in it. ç¦ |

. . . called CONCORD.
Most ninja-salvagers operate in high sec.
There really is no option to engage.

I have no problems with EVE as it is.
Grab a kleenex, pick yourself up and move on. EVE is what it is. Every problem you encounter has some sort of resolution. It was already given to you. If that's not enough or insufficient, then find your own.

Last I checked,
T2 guns on a destroyer could one shot a ninja salvaging ship. AKA use a throwaway alt to pop their salvaging ship Just don't admit to doing this

Just take a couple of extra secs to pop your wrecks if they come in and start salvaging. They will either get bored and leave or waste thier time hanging out with you.

These new whines are almost as loud as the original whines when to salvage you had to empty the wreck first. Much like GSC the developers responded and implemented the mechanics that were whined for rather than letting them develop a more robust solution. If you do not like someone salvaging your mission send the message with a bit of a suicide gank or war dec them.
Use the ingame tools - don't be a tool in game.

Suddenly Ninjas - HA
One of those morons jumped into a lvl4 a friend and I were doing, didn't cloak, and went AFK while we were still fighting.
We warped out, and back 2 minutes alter to see his smoldering wreck and his pod sitting there.
See, there's another way to deal with them ;)

I think salvage does belong to you if it's in your mission, however the game mechanics allow others to salvage without punishment, therefore it's ok imo for ninja's to get it.
I think it's a good way to make money, just that it's ok to be a pirate |

From the standpoint of someone whos corp mainly makes cash from missioning, it kinda sucks. Salvage thieves run no risk. They have a crummy ship they can afford to lose, and can make millions from rigs, or just selling the salvage. The problem for missioners is a loss of the parts to make rigs, and the potential cash from that.
Oh, and the sheer annoyance at the thieves getting free ISK with zero risk. That really gets to people. (Yeah, okay, war dec 'em you say. Fine. But the ones in real corps are NOT going to be fun for carebears to fight, and the rest are in noob corps. So... what? Me and my corp loses money to freeloaders. Weak. Totally weak.)
The most practical solution we have found is either: Have an alt in a salvage boat, or a corpmate with same. Salvage the mission as you go, with your combat ship taking aggro. Once you can tank a room, call in the salvager alt. Its the only way sadly, and a pain in the ass, but adaptation always is. |
