I wasnt sure weather to put this here or not but here goes. Im going into 0.0 to do some rattig and was wondering If there was a pattern to the NPC's in 0.0 such as in high sec. So for instance if I'm near Caldari space will the rats be Gurista NPC's. Also is the reward worth the danger, will the rats have good bountys and drop good loot.
Also do I need to make any changes to a good mission set up or will it be pretty much the same. I will be fitting a cloking device incase of gate camps on the way and have an alt with industrial to hold the loot and some extra ammo. Missions are getting a bit boring so I thought I'd change it up a bit. Any advice would be appreciated!

Rats vary by region, but within a region will all be the same type. Rat bounties and loot vary by security status. While 0.0 appears to all have the same status, it actually varries from 0.0 to -1.0 (or slightly less). The lower the security status, the better the loot/bounties, the meaner the rats. There are player maps showing true security status of all the 0.0 regions. High quality BS rats can have bounties over 1M isk each, faction can be 10x that. 0.0 is the only place to find officer spawns as well. There are strategies to increase the yield of systems, but I wont get in to them
If you don't have rights to be there, a cloak is CRITICAL. But understand that a cloak alone will at best get you to the 0.0 entrance system, where you will most likely encounter a bubble camp. It takes an extremely good camp to catch a ceptor/covops trying to run it, however it takes a totally inept camp to fail to catch a ratting battleship/hauler. You NEED to use an alt acount to scout ahead of you in 0.0 for you to have any chance, do not expect to run bubble camps, you MUST avoid them.
Remember, roaming gangs will try to set you up, if there is anyone in system with you that you don't trust, you should be safed and cloaked. You never know when that AFK cloaker is going to come back and hunt you down in a recon... ç¦ |

To answer your other question: A good missioning setup should do the trick, yeah. If you're used to running lvl4s, you might wanna tone the tank DOWN a bit, and add more gank. After all, worst you're gonna be facing (from NPCs at least...) is three battleships and four cruisers/frigs at the same time. Not much compared to some lvl4s. And more gank is quicker ratting is more profit!
And all the tank in the world isn't gonna save you from a player ganksquad. For that, watch local and safespot and cloak as soon as people enter, especially in numbers...

Thanks for the advice. I took of to the west with an alt to check for camps. First system I hit in 0.0 had a bubble and I lost the alt's ship (no prob only a frigate). So decided to give the north ago and got through unscathed. So now I have a few systems next to each other with next to no traffic and a couple nice spawns. Next job is to try find some of those -1.0 systems and try get some nice officer spawns going. Thanks again you guys saved me from making a mistake and possible not bothering with 0.0.
