Gumball Rally
Old texts have been recovered telling of a great competition held by some of our earliest ancestors. This annual competition, known vaguely as the ôGumball Rallyö was a race across sections of a planet using forms of planetary vehicles. The winner of the race was awarded with large and lavish prizes and the fame and notoriety which lasted for generations. Inter-galactical races were also held between great champions. What made these competitions so unique is they were only announced by word of mouth and only the start point was known to the entrants.
Competitors paid an entrance fee and were then told exactly when and where they would start, and not much more. At the start of the race the destination and any checkpoints were announced. The racers then used any means at their disposal to be the first to cross the finish line.
Now you have the opportunity to claim the fame, the glory, and the prestige of victory in the Great Gumball Rally.
At this point very little is known, and details are sketchy, however, Eve-Radio has been contacted by a conglomerate of corporations around the universe, and asked to announce and release details as they become available.
Right now û here is what is known to be fact:
The race is open to all. All races, and all ships, are invited to participate.
The race will start at a central location.
The race will traverse across most major areas of the Eve universe.
There will be multiple prizes. A major prize for the overall winner, and prizes for each of the ship classes.
An entry fee of 500,000 isk is required to participate.
Participants will use any means possible to win the race.
At this time these details are only rumors:
The race will be held in mid to late July.
There may be ôqualifyingö races for an added bonus to ôheatö winners, heats would be held 1-2 weeks prior to the actual race.
To enter you MUST follow these procedures, failure to follow them exactly will forfeit your application:
Send the entry fee to DJ TC in the Eve Radio Corporation û include "GGR / character name" in the send money comment box.
When the fee has been received you will receive an eve-mail with your confirmation and more details that should not be released to the general public, for your safety. Keep in mind that entrants may use this information to further their progress in the race, so use the information wisely. You should receive this eve-mail 48-72 hrs after you send it.
If you do not receive a confirmation after 5 days, your application has not been accepted. You may attempt to re-enter at that time. If you send an eve-mail requesting information on the status of an application, your entry will be disqualified and you then must re-enter.
Eve-Radio will announce details as they become available.

Correction: fastest way to finish the race... although we did say any means possible... damned loopholes... I'll get back to you on this

Use check points.
Just make one or 2 of the checkpoints out in 0.0 where no clone station exists and you will be all set.
You can also make your entrants prove they have at least 1 million sp's. That way if they clone jump to stations in 0.0 more then once without a cloning facillity, they will be losing major SP's.
And I guess you could say you have to finish with the same ship you started with. That way clone jumping will automatically be disqualified.
Just a few thoughts.

This really should be in the Events section otherwise it looks like to me it's one rule for the mods and one rule for the rest of us.

Well by any means possible should include clone jumping. Since no one really knows what the way points there will be its pretty much impossible to guess where to setup a clone for each jump.
Also sounds kinda funny to hear of pilots killing themselves to get ahead of the competition.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |
