Dear brothers and sisters,
Today, in a stunning and unannounced move the Secure Commerce Commission banned any new prints of the well known Pax Amarria penned by our late Emperor Heideran.
I consider this kind of rash repressive action a direct attack on Amarrian interests and call upon the SCC to lift the ban on printing of new Paxes immediately.
I have always found great comfort in bringing a Pax with me on my journeys across the cold dark void and consider it part of my standard equipment. To deny new capsuleers from buying such an item is simply intolerable. I know the Pax encourages conflict resolution by peaceful means, and that continual war drives SCC profits from trade orders, but they have gone to far this time.
Bring back the Pax! |

Do expect a successor soon, though.
I hear the first proposed title "The Prophecy of Patriarchs, the Harbinger of Hope, and the Oracle of Order: Jamyl Sarum Does Onto You as You Did Onto the Empire as the Empire Did Onto You. The official biography of Jamyl Sarum: How to progress from Heresy to Heirdom." was turned down by the SCC as it did overflow their database column widths. |

The following scans are meant to provide proof that non-capsuleers are still shipping the Pax Amarria, but that the SCC has just banned it from entering the capsuleer market:

In other words, if capsuleers want to procure Paxes they have to turn to the secondary capsuleer market or attack innocent civilian convoys. That is simply intolerable. |

it's also nonsense.
the SCC are an administrative branch of CONCORD, not legislative. Their job is to enforce the rules, not dictate what those rules are. As such, they have no authority to ban any item from their database.
If they could, the narcotics that are illegal in all the empires, the slaves that are illegal everywhere outside the Empire, the unregulated firearms that are illegal in the State, all of those things would be banned. The book that's been in the interstellar best-sellers list from the day of its release doesn't belong alongside those items.
No, what's happened is that the publishers have pulled them off the capsuleer market because it's hellishly expensive to pay the SCC's sale order taxes and they don't ship enough copies to the capsuleers, even at the massively inflated prices they charge us, to justify it.
Not enough demand, too expensive to supply - the business decided to stop selling via that avenue. Oh well. An in-character blog and a video: http://verinsjournal.blogspot.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu1mbsgo738

I don't actually believe this issue is as serious as it's made out to be, but even being in opposition to the Empire and it's cultural predispositions I am still devoutly against censorship.
However, having read Pax Amarria, I really don't understand why it's so damned popular or used at all to signify what it is to be Amarr. Warp drive failure indicator: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=887805#post887805 |

The Pax Amarria is a great example of the duality of the Amarr culture. Stern but forgiving, extending the hand of peace while wielding a sword in the other. It is a symbol of what other cultures "don't get" about Amarr culture. They think one cannot be a slaver and a kind person at once. Or the Emperor of a militaristic theocratic society and peacebroker at the same time.

If it was a matter of value, the price would have simply been raised and that would have been that, as opposed to simply making it illegal to trade all together.

Well, it's recent spike in popularity is largely tied to the fact that chucking copies of Pax Amarria into an ore reprocessor will yield a small quantity of nocxium and isogen.

As a loyal Amarr, I approve of this ban.
It was senseless and wasteful. What kind of book is made from STARSHIP MATERIALS. What was it? 8 cubic meters of Nocxium? Ridiculous. People were buying it just to reprocess it and sell it on the market.

I cant believe I am about to side with slaver trash like the OP but oppression, be it outright slavery or oppression of free speech is intolerable. I for one would love nothing more then to see the ideas represented in this piece of garbage to become a thing of the past but often when pushed to far, the oppressed will strike out...ask the author of this garbage. If slow witted amarrians need their "Bible of Hate", let them have it as it just seems to alienate them further from their power base. |
