Hey.
I got this account 2 days ago, for paying ISK. I logged in yesterday, had great fun and such, flying in my Hulk...
When the following happend. I got a few questions from the corp concerning about alts. If I knew some Mr Gates... I said no, stuff was okay. I heared that the first owner of this char did some "bad things". I was okay, and I asked if I was having a bad name... No stuff would get fixed.
A few minutes later I got podkilled beeing afk. And you guess right, by my corpies. I explained, and even proved that I was a different guy, but it didn't matter, because my character had a history. Personally I think that is bull, because it is about the person behind it.
Anyways, my name would get mailed to every CEO concerning the "bad things" I have done. Well, not me, but the first owner. Now I really don't like this, and I would like to ask what I need to do know?
Did I just wasted my hard earned ISK's on a character with a bad name, leading me not to be allowed in any decent corp?
Or is there a way that people believe that I am really someone else, and that my name will get "cleared"
Please, a serieus response would be nice. I am not including anymore names except my own, because in my eyes, the corp just completly screwed me over, and have proven they are just inreliable 12 year olds.
Anyways, thanks for reading. |

It is possible, but hard. Put in your bio you bought the char, they will hopefully at least get people to consider it first. This is not part of my sig.
...Or is it? |

It is possible that you bought a character that was a scammer/corp thief/whatever and now no good corp will let you in.
But also keep in mind that there is no way to prove that you are a new owner of the account and that you didn't just make up the auction/payment threads. So people will always be quick to judge and everyone likes podding a corp thief.
What you can do upon joining a new corp: -Find the people ingame that think you are a bad person and prove to them you are a different person via eve voice, vent or teamspeak. -Tell new CEO up front about this -Link your auction thread as proof you are a new user -Give new CEO your limited API key -Be nice and don't ask for hangar access or POS access right away. -Give collateral to a new corp to build trust

Well, if you haven't done so already you had better leave the corp you're in.
Also i very much doubt some CEO of a corp no-ones heard of before is gonna goto the trouble of mailing ALL the CEOs in EVE about some things that may or may not have happened by the previous owner.
Don't worry about it mate tbh.

EVE search hasn't returned any results of a 'Daniel Wells' so I doubt the character was a particularly well known scammer or corp thief.
Further more there are thousands of Corps in EVE, so its impossible for every CEO to be contacted; although some Corp CEOs will request a 'reference of good character' from a previous corp.
Your chances of getting into a new corp are therefore quite good, and I wouldn't worry about it unduly. When applying to a new corp I'd explain the character is a new purchase and might have a dubious background - CEOs will be suspicious of this but some will be happy to have a Hulk pilot and be prepared to have you on a trial basis at least.

Okay, thanks alot guys :)
I understand quite well that I can't proof for 100% that I bought the character. I also understand that they wanted to podkill me in my hulk (the previous owner stole that one). But I can't live with the fact, that they KNOW I am somebody else, podkill me and then say that they will mail every CEO and Wardec the corp I join.
On the other hand, I bought this character as a starting platform for my combateer. I found myself having a hard and boring time doing missions, so I tough, lets buy a miner ;)
Anyways, thanks for the response
Hopefully I am able to ruin their corp... I like taking revenge in a videogame, but I still can't hold any real grudes. Can't understand why they can, and why they are putting so much effort in ruining this character. I mean, they didn't shoot me up right away, I played 2 days in the corp, and I was online and chatting alot. I still find it weak, to kill me when I am AFK and then going to brag about it.
Anyways, have fun and fly save. Also, watch out for these guys.. I talked to the previous owner a few minutes ago, and he swears he didn't stole the hulk. I don't know if I need to believe him.. But you can better be save then sorry. They where nice guys in EU, to bad they take the game to serieus.

That's the risk you take when buying a character. History matters in this game, and you seem to have picked up a bad slice of it.

Best way to prove you're not the same person is to talk to them on comms, that is assuming the previous owner talked to them on comms too (which is likely).
Different voice, same character...not too hard to make the logical leap that, hey, this character was bought!
Thanks for the Maulus BPO nerf! :D |

Want to hear a funny part?
I just talked to the guy again, and he was able to proof that he bought the Hulk himself (insurance notices) and that he was tired of the account, because they stole alot (few bil) ISK from him.
So here it goes. Watch out for EvE Unity. They kill their own corpmembers and steal from them.

Just link the sales thread here and in your bio, that way they can see the charecter was sold.

Well, last update..
I got invite by Phoebie, and I really like it there. The hulk kill was worth it, because this post drew the attention of them, and now I joined them.
Again, thanks for the replys and tips, I thought I was only going to see flamers and trolls, but there where none. I am very happy about it.
Anyways, consider this case closed, although I suggest, stay away from EvE Unity as far as possible. They are very shady. The first owner of the account even said they stole from him.. Ah well, better save then sorry ;)
