Does it work? If someone was to attack me and unleash his drones, can i actually target his drones and use ecm on them such that they would lose lock on my ship and stop firing?

well technically yes, but ecming drones is rather pointless, they can just dock them, relaunch and then they are free to lock you again Applebabe ate my signature :( but the fish hat forgives! Nemotology is the EvE religion of choice! |

instead of targeted jammers you could try ECM bursts
(warning, i never tried this. AND DON'T DO IT IN EMPIRE SPACE, JUST 0.0) --

I know that ECM burst works on drones. But ECM burst eats up a lot of capacitor.
Suppose a war target unleashes his pack of hammerhead II's on my poor cruiser again. What if i have a corpie near by in blackbird. Suppose he jams the attacking ship with one jammer. Can he target the drones and ECM jam them with remaining jammers so that they lose lock on me?

If hes already locked you and asked his ecm's to engage you, breaking his lock will not deaggress his drones.

Jam him then shoot his drones. He will have to either pull his drones or let them die, either way their DPS is negated.
If he pulls them then relaunches and you don't activate a new module on him they won't auto re-aggress and will just sit there. _______________

Sometime they work and can even save my day. But sometime (very often tbh) they seem to be sleeping and i can't get 1 single ecm cycle from them :(

You guys don't get what i'm asking.
I am in NON-ecm ship. My friend is in a Blackbird. Enemy is in a drone boat. I am shooting at his ship to take it down. My friend has jammed him. But he has already unleashed his drones on me which are hammerhead II's and are doing a lot of damage to my cruiser.
Now if i were to ECM burst the drones, they would drop lock i've tried it. What about if my friend locks each drone and uses his Blackbird's ECM jammers on drones - would they drop lock on me also like with ECM burst?

Yes you can jam drones just like NPCs and players. I thought this was made clear. However it is more effective to jam him and kill the drones instead.
Jamming drones is difficult for several reasons, one being that there is 5 of them and they are all the same race (usually) so unless your Blackbird has 6 correct racial jammers, you will not keep either the drones or the player jammed for very long, maybe a cycle or two. It's chance based, the chance of jamming 6 different entities is just low anyway. Kill the drones, keep the jammers on the player. _______________

i don't know how up to date is the data base, but it shows that hammer 2's have 12 each sensor strength. hammerhead 2 spare yourself the math of figuring how likely you are to get a jam cycle and just kill them as been advised ..

My ship does not have a good fit to be killing drones with it. That is why i'm asking about jamming them with extra jammers because even taking some dps off me would be a good thing.
Looks like they have sensor strength of a cruiser ship.
