I know AF's aren' exactly the best in the current build, but I like flying mine, and I want to know how to fit them.
I fly caldari or Gallente AF's. Lets assume that I can fit mostly T2 guns and shield equipment. How would I fit one for general purpose combat?

If you can only use t2 shield equipment, you can scrap the gallente af's. a 2 midslot enyo and 3 midslot ishkur arent exactly the best shield tankers.
That leaves the harpy and hawk. The hawk is crap for anythign cept low level complexes and missions. I personally wouldnt bother.
That leaves either the blaster harpy or the rail harpy.
Here is what I would fit if i could fly them.

IF you do go gallente.
Enyo: go for balls out gank. It's not fast, nor is it a tanker. So putt as much guns you can find. Usually try stick with someone who's a taclker so you can just keep on hammering.
Ishkur: This one has the drones. I usually fitt this one so that it will ALWAYS stay out of webrange.

Af's were my first pvp ships back in the day. I flew the ishkur for practicality in pvp (relatively) and i flew the enyo for ratting and because it looked cool.

I think Enyo just screams for 2xMagstabs 1xDCU (and ANP in the remaining low).
Sure, you will be a glass cannon, but with BALLS OF STEEL! this should not be a problem.

Ships like the deimos and enyo fall apart when hit with a can of quafe

You have to admit, some of the stuff they put in those "beverages" are quite acidic, let alone harmful to humans...
