i have been trying to figure out what the defining numbers on sig radius are that separates frigs, cruisers, bs's...and such. I can figure a very general rang that each class fits into, but i cant seem to find any defining boundaries. Anyone have any clue?

Here are the bare basics....no math no numbers just easiest way for you to wrap your head around it:
Sig radius is the size of your ship as far as other ships weapons and computers go. Frigs will be smaller then cruisers and cruisers smaller then BS as general rule.
Small sig raduis means harder to hit with a weapon or be locked on to.
Guns track smaller sig worse, bigger missles damage smaller ships less due to this fact as well.
There are modules and rigs that will increase your sig radius (cloak and Warp stab I think, as well as an enemy using a target painter on you) and modules that lower your sig radius (I can't think of any so I may be wrong there...

Edited by: Removal Tool on 21/10/2008 01:22:19 MWD's blow up your sig radius while active Shield Extenders and rigs blow up your sig radius That's the shield tank negative (besides no ganky goodies)
Conversely armor plates and rigs add mass and makes you move like a brick.
But none of that matters, because it's just a ride

Thanks for the info guys. I get the whole idea about *what* the sig radius does, but i'm trying to figure out sizes. I have seen cruisers with a big enough sig radius that they show on the overview as a BC. I was trying to find out at what point a ship has such a large sig (from the attachments you mentioned)shows up as something bigger.

Tracking Guide
Missile Guide
Read those two and be enlightened
As a side note:
Signature resolution of the different sized turrets:
Small - 40m
Medium - 125m
Large - 400m
Compare the different ships and the signature radius should be around those measurements. Minmatar ships usually have a slithly lower signature than the rest.

Sorry to derail but since we have a thread for it, what is ''size'' in overview. Earlier somebody said it was sig diameter but I'm not so sure thats true because I looked at the sig of my friend in his megathron, which should weigh in at 400m radius and his ''size'' was 500m.
Since I don't know any skills that affect the size of battleship sig radius. I was wondering where such a number could have come from. In fact the only 2 things I can think of that do affect it are the skirmish warefare link and the minmatar titan, and while he was in gang with me at the time I wasn't running that warfare link (though I was several hours earlier in the same gang in a different system before he was in gang [can ccp have failed that hard with gangs? While I doubt it, I don't put it past them])
