With the new reduced speed on battleships it'll take even longer time to move between the gates on certain missions, and Worlds Collide will be ridiculous.
My armor rigged Abaddon does 99 ms. It'll take maybe 20 minutes for me before I can even start shooting stuff.
Will this be looked at, or do we have to "suck it up", and just accept it? ------------------------------------------------

I feel your pain and think this needs to be addressed. But then in a little while you're going to have the fools posting here who think that you can make the same ISK running level-4's as you can in null-sec. Which I think is idiotic at best. I make anywhere from 2x to 4x the money in null-sec than I do running missions in the same amount of time.
That being said.
I think CCP needs to take this into consideration. It'll have a significant impact on those types of missions.

Easier said than done for a mission setup, guys. For shield tankers, this is even MORE difficult while maintaining the ability to tank the DPS.

I'm betting you're going to have to 'suck it up'. But look on the bright side, at least the ships you fly aren't going to be completely gutted in effectiveness.

yes missions will take longer now, unless you make new setups that deal with this. I am currently training the final skills so i can test marauders(golem to be specifik) on the test server. As I see it it will be a necesary step from caldary navy raven because: 1)on test server missiles does much less dmg on smaller targets. Golem gets bonus against smaller target. 2)ships are slower on test server so take longer to fly around and completing the mission. Golem has an extra mid slot to fit afterburner
problems with golem compared to navy raven: golem has less dps(cnr gets 8,75 launches effectivly because of launch time bonus, compared to golems 8 effectivly because of dmg bonus). Now this can be solved by using faction ammo (although more expensive the time you save will make this step up as you can complete missions faster than in cnr)
biggest problem with Golem is that it takes many skills: This I see as a good thing because level 4 i too easy as it is right now, just buy a faction ship and faction fittings and you are ready to print your own isk. I think the better the ship the more time need to be invested to be able to fly it. Why should every new person be able to do all stuff right out of the box if they just buy some gtc and sell them for isk so their new character can buy every thing to begin with.

Edited by: SkyCrane on 22/10/2008 09:42:06 Fitting afterburners on Amarr ships isn't really an option. . Especially not the Abaddon. Apoc can handle it. Shieldtankers in general are bad with afterburner from what I understand. I only have experience with the Nightmare, and I really can't see that ship viable with an afterburner either.
I tested Silence the Informant in my Abaddon yesterday and it took 10 minutes to crawl to the gate. That's not really what I'd call fun ------------------------------------------------

Battleships are the worst ships for L4s and they can't realistically do L5s. Command ships and HACs, start training.

Uh havent used it for almost 6 months now:
8x megapulse ab, 3x cr lar, 3x hardener, 2x sink, cpr 3x ccc
or something very close to this
no - you dont need web on most missions, pulses track good enough. If you cant track - just use drones.

Edited by: Koyama Ise on 22/10/2008 21:15:36 And this is why the speed nerf in it's current iteration is stupid. When you tweak ludricious speed you don't nerf the battleship motoring with an AB at 330ms^-1 or 138ms^-1 without one. Also my Abaddon has an afterburner, no you can't have my setup, but when it's 270-280ms^-1 with an AB it gets a bit hard to catch up to the rats that like to sit at 40+km. ------ FIX THE BLOODY OVERVIEW ALREADY! SPEED NERF! RUN FOR THE HILLS! |

What the hell do think they they are doing speednerfing ships that are not anywhere near nanoships? It was bad enough when they nerfed every ship that fits MWD whether it is anywhere near nano or not, now they also nerf ships that don't even fit a propulsion mod? What a waste.

Missions runners use Ravens, CNRS, Marauders, Dominix, Nightmare, the occasional Megathron Navy issue and Apoc navy issue.
Command ships are very rarely used. With the only exception being Nighthawk.
Hacs are king; but battleships rule the entire field.
Ofcoarse a character who literally has never done a mission and is only months old would say something as ignorant as this.
Quote: armor rigs on a mission ship?
If you run missions using an armor tank... then yes you pretty much have to use armor rigs. Minimum 1.

The reason why battleships got nerfed...
Not only 20% less speed but also they take longer to align to warp. Is because you could be ratting in a belt and with less speed... it would have you better off to get away. Make perfect sense from the pvp point of view. While personally I dont care so much for the pve side. All that needs to be done is adjust the gate distances accordingly. ------------------------ "There was this bright flash of light - and now this egg shaped thing is on my screen - did I level up?" |

Yeah, because after a month in the game I know all about HACs, Command ships and Level 4/5 missions.

Ive never fitted an AB on any mission ship tbh... ok takes a but of time to travel, but most of that time is spent shooting the rats...

My suggestion to CCP is to move the gates closer to warpin points, like Jason Edwards said.
And while shooting and slowboating to a gate works on some missions it doesn't in others. And in the missions it works, the rats are all dead before I'm even halfway. In the other circumstance they are likely to overpower me, as I'll have to shoot some odd sentry gun located in the oposite direction if the one I need to go.

Personally, I prefer my 1200hp/9sec armor tanking Megathron for missions. Melts through rats like they're nothing and can perma-tank pretty much. =)
Throwing an AB on my mission ship would screw the tank all to hell tbh.

Blasterthron? Because with Rails an AB allows you to stay at a distance where your tank isn't needed most of the time (only Exceptions are Guristas and AE Bonusstage) ____________ even Carebears have teeth |

I will rename "the score" into "the torture". 62km between the gates and nothing to do for some minutes until you reach it. And adding a AB will leave you with insuffient tank for the last pockets. Well done CCP |

Imho ccp could have just nerfed the nano's instead of this since now it affects everything and the slow bs gets even slower Unless the wanted more time sink in the game because in that case they've achieved what they aimed for.
