4 Tractor / 4 Salvager AB, MWD, 3 cap rechargers Expanded Cargo II Cargo rig and salvage tackle About 650m3 - perma runs Salvage/tractor - 350m/s without speed boost - 1600m/s with MWD Great when the wrecks are spread out
I haven't had a chance to try out the other interdictors since at the moment I only fly Caldari
However, I think a Marauder is likely the best salvage/loot boat.

Kronos 2 Tractor beams 1 Salvager
No need for a seperate ship or to change fitting. 40km tractors, 1275m3 cargo.
When you are finished killing the salvaging is almost done too!

Damage Control II 3x Large Armor Repairer II 3x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 5x Cap Recharger II 3x Small Tractor Beam I 3x Salvager I 3x Capacitor Control Circuit I Drones Drones and more drones (Note I actually have a bunch of energized plates and armor hardeners I switch out depending on the target, but that's kind of the 'I dunno' fit right there) Cap stable with 2 reppers running, which will handle most L4 rooms. 3 reppers will handle anything and last 3 minutes, which will get things under control usually (or clear out the scrambler frigates so I can warp). 600m3 cargo
If I get done with mission and there's tons of salvaging left to do, I run back and refit with: 7x Expanded Cargohold II 1x Quad LiF Fueled I Booster Rockets 3286m3 cargo. Not cap stable with the mwd running
For a dedicated salvage platform, catalyst is best 'bang for buck'. Hurricane, Drake (yes, drake), Harbringer, Brutix make passable salvagers, as do any 8 high slot Battleship, especially an armor tanker.
If you dual box, a good combo is the cheap Destroyer w/mwd and enough cap modules for cap stable for one char, and an armor tanking Battleship (Armageddon is good, 4S/4T, ABII or MWD, 2CRII, and 8CEII. 4100 cargo. Rig to taste. cap stable 250m/s w/ABII). use the dest for the wreck at 130km (there's always one), and it can drop cans when full for the battleship to scoop. Tricked out with learning skills and a well rounded character, you could train up to fly the hull in 6-10 days, even if not amarr. (at least my 9 million skill point 'no amarr ships trained' alt can in 7 days)
G. Indy V + 5x Expander II + 3x Cargo Optimization I Rigs = 38,433 m3 G. Indy V + 5x Expander II + 2x Cargo Optimization II Rigs + 1x Cargo Optimization I Rig = 41,848 m3 |

well for ship wrecks I just use a Catalys whit 4 Tractors 4 Salvagers 1 AB 1 CapRecharger 3 Caego And for the minerals you get from drones I use a Brutix 5 Tractors 2 Salvagers 1 AB 5 Cargo ( believe me you'll need lots of cargo for the minerals you get from the drone infested domis)

Most likely used primarily for bookmarked wrecks after mission is turned in so one can extensively use the MWD.
Correct -- I always BM the mission areas and turn the missions in then return in a dedicated salvager ship. I don't farm missions so don't suffer from not being able to use the MWD.

4/4 salvage/tractor AB and a MWD fitted - AB gives just under tractor speed and can perma run, MWD for 1km/s+ when needed 6 Expanded Cargo II's give 2049m3 cargo space. This leaves 2 mids free - I went with a warp disruptor and a webifier :)
As above, but with 100MN II AB, gets 700m/s, and cap stable. |

This is my next upgrade :) Unsure of the dual 10MN MWD/AB fit or the 100MN AB
The 100MN looks nice, but it increases the mass by 5x (12.5 to 62.5) Is accel or align bad with the BS AB?
Also anybody have a good balance of salvage tackle to cargo expander rigs? Would going high on salvage rigs lead to maybe going 5/3 on tractors/salvagers? Skill salvaging 4.

Over 2000m3 of cargo space (more if you use containers or rigs), fast enough and can easily permarun the TBs, Salvagers and AB.
IMHO, the only better option is a marauder.
Cheers, Arrs
This gentleman is 100% correct.
My salving hurricane is pure win. I tried a catalyst, and it useful, but nowhere near as good interms of space, perma run capacity and speed, my cane uses a 100mn AB, which makes it slow to turn, but i get 600 m/s.
Also I have 2 x tacle and one cargohold opt rigs. |

Edited by: Cade Morrigan on 23/10/2008 22:25:52 I used a Cormorant first, then trained so I could use the Exequor which has served me well. But upon my return (and the introduction of salvage wrecks) I have found the Exequor wanting. Yes it has a nice cargo bay but I find myself waiting to have available tractor beams and salvagers now, and often that cargo bay isn't even half full at the end of the day. So, my purchase tonight will be...
The Basilisk (Caldari Logisitcs Ship) - 3x Salvagers, 3x Tractors - MWD, Large Cap Batteries, and a Hot Tub in the middle - 2x Beta Hull Mod Cargo Expanders (for about 750m3)
I already have Cruiser V so it ain't no big thing to get Logistics 1.
(edit: biggest problem with the new ride will be the fact that the osprey hull is so ugly it will make my eyes bleed. This coming from a guy who finds the Moa to be one sexy beast...) |

The best salvage ship imo, is the Hurricane, 4 tractors, 4 salvagers, < 1 km/s with MWD, and < 2000 m3 cargo, you can't beat the overall package when factoring cost, speed, and effectiveness.
If going with a destroyer, the best would be the Coercer. The Amarrian DD has the ability for a little over 1000 m3 cargo space, roughly half of the Minmatar BC counterpart with roughly the same statistics minus capacitor.

Cyclone. 4/4 split in the highs, cargo expanders in the lows, MWD, cap rechargers and cap battery's in the mids. Couple of salvage tackles and a low friction nozzle joint for rigs. Probably not 'technically' as good as the hurricane, but god does it *look* the part ;) |

This baby is allways in rage of every wreck, in some caes i have to go max 10km.
This may also be fitted with tank if you want to salve while running mission with another toon simontanioulsly. (at the expense of cargohold capacity)
For thoose who cant afford a Kronos, use any destroyer, theese are cheap, and will earn them selves back fast isk-wise.

I would love to see this ship. Has to be one of a kind with 2 low spots where everyone else has 1.
I have looked at all of the other posts and as for High sec, which is where I spend 99.9% of my time the Cormorant is the cheapest and most well suited. Now the cargohold is great for lvl 1 and 2 and most of the time for 3's but you will need to drop stuff in a jet can for a few 3's and 4's. Why spend 43mil on a salvage ship for High sec?
Here is my setup
High 4x tractor beams 4x salvagers
Med 3x cap recharger I 1x 1mm MicroWarpDrive I
Low 1x cargo expanders II
Rigs 3x Salvage Tackle I

I bought the "cheap" til I saw the Cargohold Optimization Rig. You could have outfitted a Hurricane with with double the cargo capacity for about the cost of rig.

Definitly Rorqual. Its like THE best. here is why: * 200km tractor beam (beat that!) * 90k m3 * big ass shield/armor * powerful drones * long range shield transport. I mean if you ignore the fact that it cost 2bil, its made for mining, its slow, cant go through acceleration gate and i dont even know if capital tractor beams can pull wrecks, THEN it is the BEST salvaging ship!

Yeah I wasn't aware of the cost of that particular item. I run this ship without any rigs and with cheaper hold expanders, works well and is cheap + easy to train.

I probably have to explain the harbi's setup, for those that will rail on the use of a shield extender - primarily I use the harbi when I go into lvl 4 areas with the corp, and it's not fully clear of aggro - the low slots are full for the holds, so there's no real space for armor tanking, but I still leave some provisions for the repper. the mid slots are not really used, so there's an opportunity for some buffer if I get aggro to then align and warp out if it gets hot. The use of AB and mwd is that I can choose which to use if I can, depending if I'm in deadspace or someone cashed in the mission, and everything frees up to where I can use the mwd to move around fast (or it's a single room). ------------------------------------------------

For Specific missions such as Worlds Colide, Gone Bersek, Attack of the Drones etc I use a Sigel with my alt.
Highs: 1X slavger/tractor Mids: 1X 10mn AB, 1XCap charger, 2x Remote signal booster (gives me just under 200k range in a Raven) Lows: 2X cargo expnaders II, 3X nanofibers. Rigs: 3X salvage rigs.
Over 3000m of cargo and top speed on AB of 480.
Never jettison a cap booster or scrap metal again and the extra 10 15 minutes it takes to salvage is made up for in not having to come back with a hauler.

Anyone have any plans for using an Orca for salvaging? Y'know, since it can haul just about anything on its own? Was thinking of getting an Orca decked out for salvage jobs, and carrying a faster salvager in its bay for anything out of range of its massive 70km tractor beams. Or better yet, deck it out in pure tractors, and use the smaller ship for the actual salvage jobs. Any thoughts?
