If I am not mistaking, this means that the highest number, 49, has 0 chance of winning price 8, 9 or 10 since the combination of the two highest numbers (48 and 49, rounded down) will never be an average of 49. Correct?
Also, again correct me if im wrong, this way numbers in the midrange have a higher chance of winning price 8,9 and 10 since an average of two random figures between 0 and 50 (1-49) will end op somewhere in the middle of the range in most cases. Right?
Also, sorry for commenting on your lotteries system, the last 4 persons buying a ticket will never have a chance of winning more then their own ticket back. If one of the last 4 numbers is actually drawn in the lottery, they will have last pick from the prices and therefore always end up with a maximum of 149mill. (the amount of the 4 'worst' rewards)
Or am I missing something?
I thought about these problems when I first saw this advertised. Averaging and rounding in a lottery will always lead to upset! I suppose now you have realised this (or had this pointed out) and have tried fixing it. And as for the 'free tickets' to the last few? If your late I guess all you get if near the top in next draw??
Seems the organiser has copied other lotteries but has just over complicated it (and not thought these extra rules through!) to appear to the general public that they have a better chance of winning and/or better prizes. |

In light of the problems, which ill admit had not been forseen, I have edited the rules to be more in line with ethical business practices. In addition I have decided then that the prizes using averages will be done away with in this lottery AND the next round and will be using the first 4 numbers from the UK national Hotpicks lottery which can be found here
NOTE: 1 prize per ticket, should a duplicate ticket arise the next consecutive hotpicks lottery winning number will be used.
Round 2 has had its rules changed to the following: The first 1-7 prizes will still be picked from the UK National Lottery but differently in order to counter balance the fact that the lottery apparently has its results posted in numerical order the order of prizes will be determined. To wit: the first 7 prizes will still be picked from the UK national lottery numbers BUT will be ordered as prizes in the lottery such that if the first number in the string is odd, the count will start from the bonus ball and continue on to every other number; if even will come from the front like so:
01 20 25 27 31 47 49
order would be: 49,31,25,01,47,27,20 (aka once you reach the end of the chain you start over)
if like so:
02 20 25 27 31 47 49
would be: 02,25,31,49,20,27,47.
order would be: 02,25,31,49,20
Same rules apply to the Hotpicks lottery: Ie 1-7 awarded from the UK national and the same counting scheme is used in the picking of the 8-11 prizes.
To sum up:
If numbers from the lotteries were like this:
UK National Lottery Numbers
01 20 25 27 31 47 49
Hot Picks:
05 21 28 39 40 42 45
winners from 1st to last would be:
49,31,25,01,47,27,20,45,40,28,05,42 for a total of 11 numbers.

you do realize that the hotpicks are the same numbers as in the lottery????, in other words i suggest you just using the random number generator to generate the last 4 numbers...seeing that the results are out now and you can't really go pick another lottery at this point imho.

I strongly protest to this after-purchase change of rules. Change your next draw, dont change this one.
Resorting the draw completely changes all the probibilities of delivering tickets to certain ranges of numbers.
To those who picked poor (unlikely) numbers, like 49, too bad, so sad.
Do not change the rules from the original post.
Cribba should back this up.

also if you are picking numbers from a different lottery to complete the 11 numbers it's always unfair towards the bigger numbers couse they are always in the end, for example if hotpicks had different numbers numbers 48 and 49 would only have 1/2 odds compared to all other numbers

I recomend that the lottery results be completely abandoned.
I recomend that chribba generates 11 random numbers out of 49 and posts them as the definative prize winners.
Choices will then be ordered by initial purchase date.

I had felt this way as well tbh, HOWEVER, from the number of complaints I recieved and because this was very much not intended in the design of the game it was intended to be even handed, I had suggested the alternate method which was fair and balanced to the best of my ability but was flawed in that the site i was using was selling them as seperate lotteries.
Even so you are not in this lottery. If any pilots who entered have issues with how the lottery was conducted you may address your issues to me. To the winners, and to the gracious loosers; my thanks.

The only way people will agree to this with out appeal (if you insist on changing the rules AFTER the draw has taken place), is a 100% random, 100% even draw.
Have chribba draw 11 random numbers, sort by payment date/time, award choices. |

Suggested recomendations for generating random numbers utilizing PI and an external source:
Input: A random number decided by Chribba between 1 and 400, from random.org.
