Good evening,
How strange this all seems yet so strangely familiar.
It's been almost 3 yrs since my last appearance on the forums and close to 2 yrs since my last appearance in Eve (discounting todays brief sojourn into the wilderness of space - lots of new things to learn. But I'll get to that later).
I remember so much but have forgotten even more. I just now made a list of names I remember yet I'm sure there are dozens I've forgotten (apologies to those souls):
Homo Erectus Jade Constantine Miz Cenuij Seleene dalman Dark Shikari sirMolle F'nog j0sephine Asestorian Grimpak Lallante Lord Zap Lord Crap TankCEO Rod Blaine Reiisha Avon Istavaan Lowa Luc Boye Joshua Foiritan DB Preacher Lian
My return is partly down to two factors: the Empyrean Age novel and sentiment about unfinished business.
I'm looking forward to getting back in business and hope to reacclimatise myself thoroughly with the changes - I'm sure some things have changed but I bet there's nothing too badly distorted from my prior time. I've already looked into a few things (mainly new skills and the new HEAT feature). It's all looking quite good.
True to form, I've already joined a corporation but this is merely a holding spot until I feel ready to thrust myself firmly into the dark heart of Eve war. I can't wait to feel the joy of podding someone again and the utter shame of being podded - I hope the difference between the two values is not that far
I'll be on the test servers tomorrow to get used to how things work again.
I hope to see many of you in space and, hopefully, on the pointy end of my hybrids.
Peace and love, Josh.

Been a long time but Eve, Eve never changes
Anyways, since I'm still the intergalactic space mayor for another month I'd like to give you the key to the forums and a warm welcome back for a notorious old veteran and truly nice guy who truly managed to rival my post counts back in the day.
(And I still remember your brief sojurn in Jericho Fraction when we hunted Pojo's boys together.)
All the best!
Let me know when you're campaigning again - you've got my vote.
And thanks :)

Welcome back, to share some lovely gossip..remember Miso? He¦s a daddy now!
Did you do anything strange things in the time you were gone?
For the people who have no idea why this is special, back in the days the community was a lot smaller and some groups of semi roleplayers were rather tight and chatted often a lot about nothing.
Joshua Calvert posted more than me but I was almost fast enough to slap him if he broke the rules.
He also did nice things like sending strangers computer stuff when they annouced they were forced to quit because they couldn¦t afford new hardware.
That¦s why he is remembered.
Eris, how could I forget you?
I'm far too normal to do anything strange - I did learn to drive my car and, excitingly, have had two crashes already. I grew a beard too but I looked like something from Lost so I got rid of it. I've gotten very interested in photography but that's taken a back seat while I worked my bottom off getting a promotion - which I got just last Friday \o/
Miso is a Daddy? Wait....she was a he?
Then yes, I've done some strange things
Seriously, I've not gone down the kids route - I'm 30 now and I like having an excess of cash and lots of sleep My sister and brother provide enough kids anyway - I'm a Great Uncle now
Good talking to you again, Eris. No doubt I'll see you around
Now I'm off to start hauling all my stuff to an agent...
Peace and love, Josh

welcome to the wonderfull age of warp to zero.
All my good old bookmarks got deleted
Just tried it - I didn't land exactly within dock/jump range. Is that a feature or a bug?
I guess this makes Empire Space PvP a tad difficult...? Unless there's some new feature like a Mob Warp Disruptor that's allowed in Empire Space?

sadly no such thing, so yeah, it made at least piracy quite a bit harder.
and, well most of the time you will land on top of your gate, but there are times you have to travel 50meters to jump.
stations are a bit worse of since you often land 2000meters away, but still better then what it was without having bookmarks in the past
So how do you PvP in Empire Space? Wait for your targets to assemble a Fleet vs Fleet situation? Wait for someone to make a mistake?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

After that, my forum whoring will be far far less than before.

Nope, you just catch your targets on the other side, as they align to warp out.
That's gonna take some wicked fast locking time (I'm assuming EW frigates + gang sensor boosting modules?) or have all ships been nerfed to increase the time they take to enter warp?

Account was inactive for a long time - I joined briefly in 06 and I'm sure I set some long-ass skill to train.
I was quite surprised this account was still available - I figured almost 2yrs in the interim would mean my account was deleted. However, I'm glad it's still here. 41M skill points isn't much compared to some but it's better than starting at zero!

"Hello, good chap! I wish to inquire about the availability of your good self for the purposes of forming up a group with the intention of then shooting other groups with our internet spaceships? I say, do you know the times? Tally ho!"
And I wish to echo the sentiments of the guys that are annoyed you haven't been 'using' your name for the last few years. Jerk.
I had little expectation the account would still be serviceable after two years but I didn't want to burn my bridges and get rid of it - I guess I knew I'd be back giving Eve one last stab.

It depend of lots of factors.
- Mining in 0.0.
- trading, if you have the patience and capital and skills for it.
- lv4 missions in 0.0.
high-sec mission running and 0.0 ratting in a average system are more or less comparable in income. With top skills and a very good ship, like a marauder.
Marauder is my ultimate goal but I have a few other important skills to catch up on - just laid out almost half a bil isk on +5 implants to help me catch up and now I'm going around buying up equipment for a couple of mission running ships - Rokh and Raven mostly.
My next step will likely be a Nighthawk and then a Marauder.
I'd like to dabble in eWar a bit too.

I'm afraid they've nerfed that recently too. You can no longer train skills for more than 3 days on an inactive account. I personally don't care about that, but I figured I should let you know in case you sod off again.
Welcome back, I'm not old enough to remember you but your name has been mentioned fondly on the forums a few times.
In case you don't know, the recent pvp trend is in "nano" ships, making cruisers (especially the tech II heavy assault cruisers) go far too fast and be almost immune to damage. There is a nerf for this inbound, and it's going to make quite a splash when it hits.
You wouldn't happen to have any tech II blueprints would you? The system has changed, it's no longer possible to get new "originals" of tech II blueprints, only low-grade copies, but they're much easier to get. If you have a researched T2 BPO you can pretty much control the market for an item, and make profits at prices that everyone else would make a loss at.
Nope, I wasn't interested in the BPO side of thigns and still aren't
I've been reading about nano'ing and it seems like it did need nerfing but maybe not quite as much as it has been.
There's a lot of new stuff too - seems warfare is a lot more tctical than before...or is it still a case of long-range ganking?

You haven't seen how they're obsoleting most ceptors by becoming ceptors themselves, only with one or two large shield extenders II and 300-500 dps. Or heavy missiles doing 0.0 damage against nano HAS. You have to experience it to truely understand just how out of whack nano is. You also need some experience of pre-nano skirmish pvp to compare, which most nano fans don't seem to have, since they're tearing their hairs out screaming that skirmish pvp is going to disappear with the nano nerf. You have that experience, at least.

More like close-range ganking. Sniper gangs won't do much good against a pack of ships with 9k shield and the mobility of an interceptor. These days in roamings only Falcons hang out 150km away, ready to warp out of cloak if anything look their way.

I'd not really translated the figures - you're telling me a Deimos could shift around at 2-3km/s?

Originally by: Rod Blaine That¦d be a slow one, albeit that the deimos is a crap example.
Ishtars, vagabonds, zealots, rapiers mainly. Cerbs, sacs and others secondarily.
Max em out and they would go way faster then that 2-3km sec.
And this is just using nano's? No MWD to increase sig radius?
How does it affect their tracking though? |
