Is the Navy Mega camo like that in-game, or pitch black like it appears to be? Either way, it still gets the sexiest ship vote imo.

Apocalypse Navy Issue not Imperial, you mean. And I don't mean to offend, but these models have pretty poor paint jobs.

Again, apologies for the gaffe of posting images vs. links, thanks again for the fix on this.
Some of this was probably the camera, as the actual colors are a bit more subdued relative to the pictures, themselves. Have to agree with the opinion that the Megathron is a very sexy beastie.
My complaints are mainly on the Tempest, which does not have the panels of the fleet issue, but rather that of the standard ship. Thanks for the catch on the Apocalypse, I've since changed it.

Went with that initial sale price on the quartet of "faction battleships" and then used the slow-boat shipping, which turned out to be pretty damn fast all things considered (showed up two days earlier than projected).
Arrived in three different boxes, which had me worried at first.
The camera was purchased with lots of coupons, and a rebate, ended up being about $100.00 (USA). The townhouse, ... with our recession'ing economy, ... near bloody worthless...

Man, those pics aren't the problem. The problem is the noob paint jobs on those things. Nothing against those that bought them. Just the paint looks really disappointing.

This. As an artist, the paint jobs just kill the overall impact of the pieces. The Apoc is one of the best looking, if only because it's paint job is the least worst. The Megathron looks horrible, as does the Raven and Tempest.
WTH CCP? The Mega should be a mirror polished black chrome with gunmetal details, and the Raven would look great in a really dark burnished copper brown with some midnight blue tinting to it. And the Tempest? When in hell has a Tempest ever been that color? It needs the reddish brown of Minmatar rust all over it.
The models look really detailed and pretty finely crafted. You're killing it with the paint.

I was wondering whether or not I should've just maxed the CC and got the faction model quartet, instead of just the raven (since the cam paintjob kinda looked cool in the shop pics on the raven). That said I was mighty impressed with the standard raven model regardless (especially the faint dirty-look it has, though that may be a result of now being in my house for a month  )
Seeing the campaint job on the raven, I'm glad I didn't get it. They look too,,,,,, comic-booky,, rather than the insidious machines they look like toys. Minmatar one especially looks like a six year old should swing it round yelling "pew pew pew" rather than being a $170-plus model (after shipping) to display on your desktop or mantle-piece.
That said, the Geddon does look cool, but thats the only one.

WOW. CCP needs to fire whoever was in control of this project. The end result models look NOTHING like the ones that were shown when these were announced. These look ****ing terrible and I'm glad that even with them looking nice before that I opted not to waste money and something embarrassingly stupid like this.

This seems like a really good idea that wasn't implemented with a lot of common sense.
I'm a warhammer player myself, so I'm the kind of nerd who lurves having little figures floating around his computer. I've long though there should be some EVE models, specifically I would like to see a Badger 2, a Crow, and maybe a Thorax for my own selfish use :)
But the pricing on this, over 100 USD for a die-cast model, and the somewhat lackluster paintjob (I paint my tabletop armies better than that) made this something I won't really consider buying. I'd like to emphasize here to any CCP reps that might be reading, that the big issue is the price rather than the paint. If I really wanted to I could strip those in brake fluid and drybrush them from the hull up. Spending over 100 dollars on ANYTHING that's basically just an item for super hardcore collectors, isn't really giving access to those of us who are just moderate hardcore players.
I would be happy to cough up ten or twenty bucks for a little plastic Badger or Drone that I could zoom around the room while my ship warps, but this stuff is even more pricey than expensive wargaming materials.

I have to agree with most of the negative people here sadly..
The paint job is horrific :'( which is even worse when you consider the studio photos:
This does NOT equal this (and that's the best looking real photo the op posted, if you consider this one it's even worse)
I know you can do a lot with lighting, but truth be told the model looks a lot cheaper than what you pay for it: the uneven lines, overall crookedness and paintjob. If it would come in cheap white plastic I would just paint it myself and it wouldn't have to cost more than 35 euros or 50 bucks.
I really hope the normal versions of the model look better than this.
And yes I know the ships actually look like this in eve (premium) and it's the lighting and system backgrounds that make them a lot darker, but still, at least there could have been an effort to make them look more like the ingame look rather than a 1-1 copy of the skin and 3d model :/
I love how you made them available, hope there will be more ships and better quality soon
