1) the only thing you cannot experience in hisec is the adrenaline rush of low-sp frigate piracy. but apart from that, empire offers enough challenge for the skill levels attainable within the first 2 weeks.
2) most corps are not interested in recruiting trial accounts. even if the player seems ok, it helps to know the recruit will stick around for more than a week.
3) billing-wise it should not be a problem to switch an account from trial status to full once its paid for and keep the remaining free days, so its not costing a new player money he would save otherwise if he wants to stick to the game and "get to the good stuff"
4) and, of course, the main reason for this request: noob-alts would become less common.
lets be honest, the intended use of trial accounts is, by all means, for new players to try out the game and see if they want to stick around. if there were changes to the limitations on trial accounts, that should be kept in mind at all times and not be impeded upon. but i'm pretty sure that most trial accounts registered are used as disposable scouts, which is definitely not their intended use. --- i suposse everyone rolls around stations in pods |

Edited by: Astria Tiphareth on 23/10/2008 11:30:52 Learn To EVE-Search. Been suggested. A year ago or more. Many times. Still no changes.
Restricting trials to high-sec only means that trial players cannot see all of what is possible in EVE. This is not good business sense, and I know of several players who have chimed in on these sorts of threads before who started as a trial, went straight to low-sec, and signed up based on what they saw there, not what's in high-sec.
Disposable scout alts are easy to do, and you don't need either trials or even NPC corps to do them. This proposal solves nothing. Meta-gaming is here to stay. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... Environmental Effects

I would have to disagree with this. Firstly, low-sp frigate piracy is not the only thing you cannot experience in hi-sec. I wouldn't have joined the game if it weren't for the fact that I took a bantam into 0.0 space on my trial. The trial should allow players to experience all areas of the game, and not just the more boring hi-sec areas. Secondly, as to most corps not recruiting trial accounts, my corp has recruited several trial accounts, many of whom have begun paying for the game as a result of the support they got from us. Restricting the trial accounts will unfairly penalise the new players, legitimately trying the game out. Fewer players use noob trial alts than you think, and this would just lose CCP money, rather than anything else.

As far as I can tell, the only thing you hope to accomplish is to stop trial scouts. I have never seen anyone provide evidence to show that the vast majority of scout alts are not in fact alts on paid acounts. Please provide evidence that they are not before trying to restrict trials. ç¦ |
