Assuming all your support skills are at a minimum at 4 will the Thanatos be cap stable when performing tasks like remote shield & armor repair or will it need logistics support from remote cap transfer to perform these task indefinetly.
I know the fit will be important to achieve this objective so please advise on a good standard fit that is field proven-so nothing esoteric.
Whilst I can get an idea from Eve fit it is often better to ask real world pilots.
The capital armor repairer looks like it will eat cap like mad if you have to repair your own armor.
One final question-I need to encorage corp members to train other ships to support the Thanatos. What would be a good ship to provide remote logistic support for the Thanatos-say remote cap transfer.
The intended role for this Thani will be to provide support to large mining ops in 0.0 space with a large number of supportive ships so it will never be flying alone.

You should have 5/5 cap skills before you train for caps to be honest, they aren't a long skill to train and are obviously extremely useful.

I understand that the cap skills are 5/5 mostly for this ship. My Alt will fly her and he has 5/5 cap skills but is that enough for cap stability?

3 CCCs all Cap rechargers with 1 Sensor Booster in the mids Capital armor and shield transfer. . .
you should be able to run your reppers for a long time. . .
but yes, 'permarunning' is a carebear concept and has little to no merit in pvp - where dps can not be overcome by any single 'local' tank.

Whilst your carbear comment is understood it is still very embarrassing to be in a ship that cant perform its primary function because you naively fitted it & ran out of cap. All Thanatos pilots should fit that ship properly-it would be a crime not to-Ebay anybody?

Not very familiar with the Thanatos, but the carriers aren't that different in this respect.
Permarun in the sense of running both local tank and remote stuff is not really an option. You can come close to permarunning 2 remote reps with your local tank turned off or your local tank depending on what else you're running (neuts/smart bombs). You won't be running both your local and remote reppers at once very often, you're either primary and tanking, or someone else is and you're assisting.
- Standard dual-rep omni-tank in lows, 1-2 EANMs is sometimes replaced for CPRs if you're in a gang with other carriers. The value of local tank is inversly proportional to the number of carriers in your gang.
- ECCM and cap rechargers in mids.
- 2 capital reppers and a combination of smarties/neuts/cap transfer of choice in highs. (Cap transfers are especially nice if there are properly fit Niddys in gang ;) )

ok, work with this then:
1 capital remote armor 1 capital remote shield 2 large smart bombs 1 heavy neut.
1 sensor booster (lock resolution script) 4 cap recharger
2 capital armor rep 3 EANM 1 DCU
3 CCC
----
This setup perma-runs your 2 capital armor reps, it runs one of the remote reps perma, runs both for 8 mins and the whole lot for 3. So if you are taking damage, you stop repping and run your reps while your fleet reps you. If the target is a shield tanker - run that shield transporter, same for armor. . .
I think the trick is to manage your cap, not run everything. ----

Edited by: Vim on 23/10/2008 12:42:49 Switchout for one Cap rep of your own and add a CPR in above fitting. Also amarr eanms are cheap :)
edit: Darn sokratez got in before me =(
I'd not want just a DC2+2xEANMII for resists myself but at the same time 3xeanm are abit meh.

For pvp i¦d go 3 semiconductors instead of the CCC rigs, as it gives you better cap stability and a better buffer, should you get neuted. It will take a moment longer before you can perform another jump though.
Try this:
[Thanatos, Omni] Capital Armor Repairer I Capital Armor Repairer I Armor Explosive Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Capital Shield Transporter I Capital Remote Armor Repair System I Drone Control Unit I Drone Control Unit I Drone Control Unit I
Semiconductor Memory Cell I Semiconductor Memory Cell I Semiconductor Memory Cell I

lies
and it'll take you twice as long to jump, smcs on cap ships = fail
Also, with the amount of cap that cap ships have, the 'extra buffer' that smcs offer is nihilised by the extra recharge by the time you'd start using it. |
