well i am thinking of getting these lovely sounding little things but i am a little confused as to what exactly they do. Little help here would be nice, my questions are: Whatexactly do they do?? are they worth it?? and can someone give me an example of a usage ex: powergrid before fitting and after?? thxs a bunch

they add +10 to your power grid. may not sound like much BUT:
reactor control on a frig with say, 40 grid will only add 10%, or 4 more power grid.
aux. power core will give you 10, and they only use 15 cpu. VERY useful for frigs.
Someone once told me they loved me. |

sounds good thxs, as well is there different sizes ex: micro, small, med, large, xlarge?

only micros i believe, but im assuming that it leaves it open for other sizes, must just be on CCP's "to do" list.

I hope the other sizes are released, unless they are still working out the ballance issues. Certainly there cant be much "to do", change a few numbers about. Auxilliary Computers should make an enterance as well!

you should also note that micro aux powercores have skillbonuses applied to them. reactor controls dont. therefore, on a ship with 100pg (badger mk2 eng 5) a reactor controll will give you 10 pg, whilst micro aux powercore will give 12.5mw. therfore you will get more from micro aux powercores untill you reach sweetpoint of 125mw wiht engineering 5. --------------------------

The problem with small/large/xlarge power cores is that why would you use an rcu ever? Power aux's make using rcus pointless on frigs, i imagine they would do the same on cruisers/bs's. ________________________________________________________

Edited by: Neverblu on 29/06/2004 18:06:46 also, MicroAux power cores add the +10 before skills are applied, so say on a taranis, it has 35pg, plus 10, so 45pg, plus 25%(from engineering 5), makes 56.something powergrid. =)

the micro auxillary powercore exists for frigs and indies who have too little grid to actually effectively use rcu's, and not enough slots to stack them to get the same effect
in short, they exist do there is a practical way for frigs to boost powergrid

On frigates, that is definetly true, because of the low power grid ratings. But on larger ships, like cruisers and BS's and even Indies. There will always be a sweet spot where its more benificial to have a RCU than a power core. Meaning that both should be used. Obviously right now there is no point in having a 10pg micro aux on a cruiser with 720 base pg. Since you'd obviously get more out of an RCU. Don't forget that those Auxilery power cores add to the base which makes engineering and RCU boost more effective though.

10pg is micro, a small or medium cruiser sized one should have a +100pg. On a cruiser with a base pg of say 800 it would be more usefull over an rcu.
My point is there is no use having both as they don't have any real drawbacks over each other besides maybe cpu (dont remember cpu stats off hand). ________________________________________________________

Some ppl wanna nerf everything.
Actually, you found a perfect game for it. Nerf is king. AUX powercores will be removed soon. Thanks you, pls forward more suggestions to CCP.
