Let me make this statement 1st, some pirates I have come in contact with this does not apply to, the ones to whom it does apply, know who you are....
After you have had a long day of ganking people 3 on 1 or 6-7 on 1-2, you find yourself facing 3-4 ships alone,why do some pirates start screaming for a "fair" fight 1 on 1??? What makes you think you deserve anything but a ganking yourself ? Did you offer the few dozen ships you gang ganked that day a "fair" fight , I think not. So if you are going to live the life of a pirate be an honorable one and take the ganking with some class, do not hug a safe spot and start screaming for a "fair" fight when you do not give your victims one.
* side note , I do not have anything against pirates,I think you all make the game very interesting... hell I may seek to join your ranks one day.

Asking for a one vs one is a mind game and a potential opportunity for yet another kill.
We pulled this on a corp a couple months back, wherein we had destroyed one it's cruisers and when they came enforce. We talked them into every one docking except for the two who were going to 'duel'.
Since we sent in our BB pilot and they their Moa pilot you can only guess the outcome.
Honor? There is no honor among thieves.

THe nice thing about people in spacecraft whining that they don't have the upper hand is that you can make them quiet very, very easily.
I keep a teddy bear in my pod with me. A teddy bear with sharp teeth, massive claws, and a pinache for eating the flesh of podded corpses. I call him "Fuzzy". |

I used to see it your way but then I got smart and realised pirates, generally speaking, don't want a fair fight. They want a quick dirty profit.

they are pirates what do you expect?

They are pirates they are untrustful lying selfish people and most of them proud of it.

Heehee, I remember when HoW whined about "fair even fighting" after they attempted to gank one of our battleships 4 on 1 and then we came down with 10 more :)
Just cause a person is a pirate doesn't make them any smarter/braver/better than anyone else :P
Just more of a jackass streak in'em :P
(good natured jest so dont break out the flamethrowers on it) :P

In any form of PvP, carebear or pirate, naturally you always want the upperhand and have risk-free kills. Someone complaining about fair odds is kinda funny though.
We try to get the odds on our side all the time, however we'll gladly fight even odds or even a bit outnumbered any day. I've noticed the trend more and more recently, that no one will fight even odds anymore, this includes carebears and pirates we fight.
