Edited by: Qui Shon on 28/10/2008 21:38:29 Just did the "tutorial" part. If you have played and like FC2, don't read this.
First impression:
What the ****! What a huge disappointment. Far Cry is the best FPS ever. Far Cry 2 is pure *******s. How can they take the best, and turn it into absolute drivel!?! (oneeleven)
Oh, I know. Because it's made for god damned console tards that's why! ****ing GTA San Africa, without the cool/funny aspect. Blinking items, stupid map icons, and more roadsigns then a theme park has. They repaint the signs too, every time I drive to a new place, that's mighty friendly of them.....vomit.
Yo homie, go kill some peeps, pick up the druggg...ahh, diamonds, from these.....flashing suitcases that someone dropped all over the countryside.
Even the cars behave like **** compared to Far Cry. It was hardly stellar in FC1, so how they can make it worse, is .....
No prone? How in the nine hells can you make a god damned FPS in the 21st century without prone! What were those morons thinking. No peek/lean? Gaaaah. Only way to use binoculars, oh excuse me, "monocle", or was that "monocular"? is to pull out my bleedin map, just who thought up this crap.
I don't know what you guys are saying about the AI letting you walk up to them, I found they put plenty of holes in me rather quick unless I approached crouched from their back. Mind you, this was the hardest difficulty, which is what made Far Cry the best FPS ever. In this game I'm wondering just how many shots a guy in a tshirt can take before he finally stays down. And why that tree trunk is blocking my gunfire, even though there's two feet of air between my line of fire and the tree.
Crysis had it's issues, mostly the invisibility made any smaller engagement a walk in the park. Decloak right in front of their face, shoot, cloak, and none of their buddies has time to react. But at least it took a while to get to that point, and I didn't hate it within 5 minutes.
Far Cry 2, letdown of the decade.
I think I'll do what the poster above did, get Fallout 3. But I just know I'll have some serious issues with their design decisions as well. Like toughening up enemies with player level, thus removing any sense of advancement, the bane of any rpg. And since it's done for consoles as well, it's has a very high probability of being yet another huge disappointment.
Whenever I start to feel the console hate is just an act, a thing I'll do for fun, taking a friendly jab at console playing buddies, something like this comes along that really reaffirms and gives yet more concrete reasons for hating consoles. They really are ruining the gaming industry, slowly but surely.
I'll wait for one big patch, give it another go. But unless they really change a lot, I'm not playing through this crud. |
