But would CCP ever consider changing the names of highly inactive players.. To the same degree as inappropriate names. Renamed to "RaceCitizenNUMBERSWITHDATE"
For example.. "Paul" has been in his rookie corp for 4 years, 11 months and 28 days (I will "guess" he hasn't logged or had an active suscription in recently)
I think a reasonable time would be 3 years of no-subscription.
If after three years(lets face it, thats quite a fair time) you don't have an active suscription your name would be changed to a server generated name and recieve the following eve mail from EVE System.
"Dear <old name>
It is our understanding that in three years your account has not been active, therefore we have changed your name to <newname>. Should you now wish to change your name to something more suitable please petition(F12) under "Rules & Policies -> Character Names"
We are sorry if this causes you inconvience.
Yulai Naming Commision."
Im not sure if I'm gonna get flamed for this suggestion, but can anyone disagree that three years of complete inacitivity (No suscription!!) is fair for the name to be freed up? |

They've said they hope to go on for another 10 years.
I think in another five years, it will definitely be, yes. |

I researched this for a little while previously and all the linkage I've found was them saying no to character wipes rather then character name reassignment

I'm a fine example - I was inactive for 2 years yet I've returned. I'm glad the name is still mine because, whilst my Eve Online history is chequered, it's still MY history.
Three years of giving CCP $0 money. |

I'd have been sad if the name/account was gone but I wouldn't have been surprised if it was gone - I was positive accounts were expired after 6 months.
Until CCP place definite time limits on keeping inactive accounts, yoo won't see any freeing up of account names either.
Six months notice. Shortened extensively as I cba to write it all (Devblog) "EVE Customers,
In six months we will freeing up the names of all inactive customers (Three years or greater).
<insert reasons>
<insert other mumbo jumbo>
This gives anyone six months longer to login, or they'll be subject to a name change.
