Which blaster is it that is best and why? Sorry if the is a repeat but I could not find a prior topic.
And what is the range you fight at with your choice?
Thank you for the input.

Neutrons do better damage and range Ions have lower fitting req and, if I remember right, better tracking and ROF
For myself, I use neutrons unless I have fitting probs such as in a blasthron or blasterax, then I use all ions as they allow for a more ballanced setup due to the lower fitting req.

ion. minimally less damage over time than neutrons. compensateable whith fitting more mag field stabilisers, since u dont have to fit as many rcu's/pdu's --------------------------

6 ions and 1 electron (can't fit 7 ions without mods) In comparison to neutrons, look at what other people said in fitting, DOT and such.

well, with 5 or 6 neutrons installed, 7 ions with mag stab II out damages neutrons....if i recall correctly :P

Ions fit nicely on cruisers, i cant justify the extra fitting requirements for neutrons. Saying that, medium neutrons make good point defence on a dominix for instance.

Moa with the new range bonus
4 Named Neutron blasters(preferably regulated modals)
2 XR-3200 heavy launchers
Yes antimatter and neutrons punch hugh holes for mediums but with the range penalty only ideal when surronded.
Try using iron charges in neutron blasters, yes weakest ammo type but the long range bonus helps out the short range of blasters, helps for bit of verstility with blasters.
plus it has a drone bay that can fit one heavy drone or 5 acolytes.
the 5 acolytes with iron charges in neutron blasters and warp in distances of 20km = good NPC huntin fun.
Plus all this tech II mid and low slot components on market now......."homer says, "mmmmmmmm tech II medium shield boosters.""
One of my highest damage modifiers i get with any hybrid gun i've used so far is up over 5.3 last time i checked it with no damage mods installed and it was a "small" regulated neutron blaster. put two of those on a merlin with two ultra fast rate of fire rocket launchers, was an ultimate close range frigate battler.

ions are good in long combat when you don't care about using up rounds but neutrons when you really wanna kill your' target quickly
long live the Taranis!!!
