Edited by: Cyprus Black on 30/10/2008 15:39:25 Why in the hell would older players grief newbies? I don't understand that. Do they just not want new players in the game?
They're quite literally chasing away new CCP customers and I would think CCP would step in on this. Especially when it affects their wallet.
As I understand it, CCP already has a very high turnover rate for new customers.

EVE has shown a steady rise of players over the years so I guess your assumptions are wrong. Also, if a new player join a game that'd been out for 5 years and he thinks there's all kinds of things wrong with the game, what's the chances of that person actually being right and understanding the game?
Unless ofcourse you're an alt troll, in which case good job.

Originally by: Tzar'rim Add belts, ships and containers to your overview and scan for them. If you go to busy systems you have more chance of finding miners but they'll be more used to pirates. If you go to quieter systems you'll find less miners but they'll be more likely to make a mistake.
Oh, please do come and flip my cans in the "quiet" systems that I mine in....

If CCP has enforced rules against harassing new players during this period and players have slowly been increasing then this supports the idea that CCP must be doing something right *currently*
I can see how CCP would not want to have people scaring away new players by destroying their ships and interrupting their mining. That would surely scare away alot of potential customers. _______________

Pretty sure every MMO says this. Even UO and TR still say this from time to time.

Few years ago 2k online was normal, then we hit 10k and it was amazing, then 20k. Now we have 30k online don't even think about it.

This is why you fly a poorly fit ship while can flipping, that way even if you die it's still a comedy killmail.
And... it's fun if you do it right ------------

Quote: An example of grief play would be the so called "Can baiting" in starter systems. An experienced player drops a cargo container with some items in front of a station in a starter system and waits for a new player to take from it. The new player is flagged and promptly attacked and killed by the owner of the container. Doing the same in starter tutorial complexes is also considered grief play and will not be tolerated.
Please Note the BOLD portions....
therefore the belts are perfectly acceptable options. Best place for extracurriculars of this manner are the mining/engineer starter systems for each race. May the cans be filled with veldspar and pods. :)
