do you have hot keys set? It takes me to long that the owner takes the stuff out before I can and his can gets destroyed. Please tell me the fastest most effecient way to do this. Thanks. |

step 1- make sure your not on dial up
step 2, fly over quickly, jettison your own can within 1500m of their can, swap their stuff into your can then ideally zoom away and cloak, wait for flashy red and decloak and get that unsatisfying pointless pathetic totally aimless hauler kill.
hope that helps, by the way have you considered real pvp? |

Practice. And also the realization that you don't have to actually have a fully open window to drag to. You can drag from your open can to the tab of your can.
General operation is like this:
1) Before approaching target, have 1 unit of whatever to make your own can ready. 2) Bookmark the target's can, warp out and warp onto target's can. 3) Jet your can immediately and 'approach' target can. 4) Open your new can while moving closer to target can..hit ctrl-space as soon as your can opens otherwise you might get out of range of your can while approaching his. 5) Click on the target can in the overview and spam 'open' on it. It should open over the same window your old can was in. 6) Hit Ctrl-A to select everything in the can and drag to yours.
It helps if you have done it several times before, and have moved the new open can window up near the top of the overview where the window with all the buttons are. Minimum mouse movement is what you're looking for in this case if you need to do it ultra fast. |

tsk...
1 - Use Scanner, Find cargo.
2 - Warp to belt, do a bookmark before landing on belt (usually, your best standard must be just out the grid, so 500-600km, most times you'll end with 3-30 thousand km, that's fine too.
3 - Bookmark cargo, warp to the spot you did before landing, set whole corp orange (or whatever color you like, just set standing to make them screm "ZOMG I'M OF THAT CORP" when you look at local.
4 - as you land on the spot (quite fast warp) rewarp on the bookmark you made of the can. open the cargo og your ship while you're warping.
5 - on overview, click on the cargo and keep pressing approach until your ships start moving.
6 - as you reach 1500m, jettison your unit of whatever you're using and open the cargo you want to flip
7 - Flip. if you want the can to be intact, shift-drag and leave one unit inside the flipped cargo.
8 - ???
9 - PROFIT
doing this in a fast, little ship may also be usefull, you'll usually land 20km from cargos, so if you're fast enough you may have the chance to bump the near industrial and avoid it taking the stuff inside before the flip.
ofc, you need practice, lot of practice :P ______________________________________________

The guy was afk and was slowly getting killed by the rats. It just so happened that just as I stole from his can, he reached hull and exploded.
The timing for that was insane, it almost looks staged. |

Why aren't people using secure cans yet. I don't care that it drops down to around 4,000m3. Multiple secure cans can still net 12,000m3 if you plant three. Granted, it's not the 27.5k m3 of a jettison can, but there is zero risk of profit loss. If you're mining faster than that anyway, you should be mining with a group already and thus have a dedicated hauler.
PvErs. I swear to god it's like watching monkeys fly. |

Because of 2 reasons,: 1. Secure cans are just an easier way to steal ore in systems above 0.7. You can't anchor them and all the collector needs to do is fly up in an indy, right click and select scoop to cargo :) Best bit of this is that you get no aggro. Take it back to station, if it's passworded just select repackage and all the locked up goodies are in your hangar. Sell can back to guy you got it from and repeat :)
2. People forget to anchor them when they deploy them in 0.7 and below - repeat rest of above. |

I was not aware of the 0.7 anchoring. Wow. Also, honestly moving into 0.7 seems like a very simple move for any minor. It isn't like the rats grow Tachys. Quote: 2. People forget to anchor them when they deploy them in 0.7 and below
Nice. A failure of PvErs. But nice. Thanks for the info above. |

There's a nice trick to can flipping:
Once you're in the belt and the can is 10+km away turn on mwd, click on the MINER and hit approach. They're usually right next to their can. When you bump into him press stop or hit approach on the can.
This will often bump him out of his 1500m range, and always leave you right on top of the can, giving you all the time in the world to do whatever you want with it. ---
