Can anyone explain why a 60 day GTC costs $34.95 when to play Eve with the standard subscription costs $29.90? In my 10 year experience with varios MMO's it is usally the other way around.
Just curious.
Thanks in advance.

Other game companies are based in the USA. CCP is not. For CCP there's an intrinsic economical advantage in getting direct subscriptions and there are extra costs associated with GTCs. |

makes sense i suppose. So the next question is who would be dumb enough to buy them online. Obviously you have a debit/credit card to such with. So why not just pay for your subscription and save a few bucks?

I expect the vast majority are purchased to sell for isk these days, but some might be bought by people who want to give extra playtime to friends without giving them their credit card details or something like that. |

GTC's are stored in their server there is no extra cost involved, its all automated. maybe would cost more if purchased from a third party outside eve (they need their cut), but shouldn't because the cut paid should be considered advertising (CCP should suck up the small loss). No reason GTC's should be worth more as a result of no more ghost training or limiting to 60 days, as it only affects those who pay with cash (and want to save some money. All no ghost training will do is give less incentive for inactive (burnt out or maybe in Iraq) players to ever return to the game. So CCP decides that loosing 20 days of revenue (ghost training) is to important so would risk all the revenue a player will give to the game when they quit for good. All time codes are paid with cash even if you bought with isk, the guy you bought it from, paid with CASH, so CCP gets their money out of it, no is playing for free. |
