perhaps specialized exploration ships (though i dont see why they couldnt just be T2). you get the ability to fit a probe launcher to find the sites, and still plenty of gank and tank to be able to run them!
how about a heavy assault battlecruiser? based off the tier 2 hulls perhaps? maybe combine these into the same thing?
either way, there are plenty of roles to be filled by things that could just as easily be T2, so there is no need for T3 until all T1 hulls have been given T2 counterparts for one role or another, and even then, i feel that T3 is a bad idea. ---------------------------------------------
I may be a bit over Zealot, but i cant help myself, its the best investment i ever made! |

And what about them? If someone thinking out of the box first figured out how to combine ship and modules and eventually the fad spread, doesnt mean a thing, regardless of the end result. Up to that point everything was running more or less ok. The discussion here is speculation about the upcoming (?) tech 3 ships, not trying to refresh my memory (and i've been around a while now, tyvm for reminding me my age), nor what taking existing game mechanics to the limit led up to.
Look up nanophoon or nanodomi? Better look up "Black Ops".

I wouldn't mind something for the "mini-profession" set, specifically Hacking, Archeology and Salvaging, also something for Gas Cloud Harvesting. These could be released by the mini-Factions, like the Sisters of Eve or the Intaki Syndicate, ORE or even CONCORD.
There are quite a few non-player available hulls in the game, either flown by NPCs or essentially going unused but still tucked away in the database. Just a thought.
Forgetting ships for a moment and thinking about modules ...
I'd like to see some greater tactical utility in modules and how they're used. For example, an Invulnerability Field that isn't quite as strong as the T1/T2 variants but can be adjusted on the fly to boost one particular resistance at the cost of the effectiveness of the other three provided ...
In any case, news from Fan Fest this year should hopefully prove very interesting indeed.

I think its likely, much the same as t2, that t3 will come in first in frigate sized ships. The obvious ship to do this with would be the interceptor as you could make it considerably better than its t2 counterpart without making it uber.
I would like to see a ceptor sized ship with af tank (and the grid and cpu to fit it with guns) and ranged 2 - 300dps. A mini nanohac.
maybe 5/3/5 as a rough slot layout, same sized weapons, with a 3 rig ability and bonus to heat?
I would expect such a ship to cost around 200 mil before fitting and rigs, 300 when fit properly.
Skill requirements wise, maybe thermodynamics 5, interceptor 5, advanced spaceship command 4 and high speed maneuvering 5?

Originally by: tekpede If you want to expand on ships I was thinking of T2 cap ships and maybe additional T2 ships(cruisers frigs....).
Cap ships are already powerful There seems to be a great void between Battleships, and capitals. Why not make a SubCapital class of ships? SubCarrier maybe like, no fighters, but 10x Heavy drones, and weaker logistics than a logistic ship, but, not as insta poppable. And for Dreads maybe instead of Citadel Torpedo Launchers, Citadel Cruise missile launchers (some guy in another thread suggested this) and for guns in between the BS class and Dread class, like for rails, the dread is 1000mm, and the biggest BS rail is 425, maybe have 675s or something like that. And, oh, i dont know, maybe a short range jumpdrive capability, but highsec flyable.

T3 ships are fiezable. But again like tech II ships they will be specialized. look at some tech II ships.
Take the Rapier for example or the Falcon.
One or the other can turn the tide of war in smaller gangs unless you are in a fleet and that is a nouther story. The solo ships we can still solo with when used by players with experience are quite deadly.
I remember seeing a rapier take out 5 ships single handedly. And thats tech II/ A wing with 3 to 2 falcons will make the other gang tuck tail and run.
So you tell me. What cant the tech III ships do that te tech II ships can't ?
Maybe we need to get out of what we are used to and take on what we dont know in this game and what there is potential for. The game has been nerfed to all hell. boos this or nerf bat that. and you know ccp will nerf bat any suggestion that comes along. So lets see what tech II ships cna do. Might even bring bacl SOLO pvp or they will add a new aspect to the game.

Specialised exploration ships which allow scanning, and the ability to run them to a fair degree would go down a treat. It would make sense as it goes nicely with the love CCP is giving to the profession.

I left eve in 04 when I thought "damn so much new stuff I will never be able to train for all what I want to fly....
When I came back I discovered T2 learningg+cheaper implants, that made up for it I think.N Now: With T3 I just think it will be just MORE skills to draw play/skill time from our fingers to fly them. thats what I fear. About the ships themselves:
If you compare T1 ships to T2 ships: T2 are not better in all points they are more specialized. A HAC for example has better Tanks+better dmg. A Recon has better EW stuff and cloaking etc. But they are sometimes not as good in the other fields as the T1 ships [HAC for EW? laughable in comparism, Recon for doing dmg or tanking....not really viable] So perhaps T3 would just be even MORE specialized....
For PvP: T2 ships in normal PvP are rare because of their cost. When T3 is even more expensive why would it be viable to use lots of them in PvP when losing them will prolly be as easy to destroy as are T2 ships.

I was wondering if we might see dual role ships that have bonuses to heat.
A cov ops that has an AF tank, or a interceptor that can deliver close range but powerful ECM.
When run without overheating these ships would be worst than the T2 equivalent. But with heat (and therefore the associated damage) they are 10-15% better.

Yes! Scripts for invulnerability fields or whatever. More modules should have this sort of battlefield customability.

Here I will throw out my idea:
What are todays issues with industry? It's stale, especially the T1 type, everything is a carbon copy of the same original blueprint, and it requires no skill to manufacture (not SP, player skill).
At the same time, people are yearning for more diffrentiation in ships, while market players are wanting to somehow have a indentity in what they sell, be "special".
Time and again, CCP has stated that remaking the system so that every ship is unique is a megaload on the database, not something they can rectify day one. Just consider how many entries there are for every T1 ship in existence.
So here we are. Industry needs a change, PvPers need something new to fly and blow up, and all those shiny explosions.
So how does CCP circumvent the database problem?
They create a new tech level (T3) that is much more customizable on the creation stage, unique materials, maybe even material quality, definately exchangable materials for different end results. Ships that may end with the same hull class, but differing amounts of shield/armour/structure, slot lay outs to a extent, less rig slots, but different, new, built in bonuses.
And just to not go back on their previous statements, one of the features manufacturers may CHOOSE to include on their ships, is better heat stability, and then mods that react to heat in different ways (also player created).
This solves:
Industrials where knowledge, mineral collecting, skill & experience matter ? CHECK
Market traders with uniquie ships to offer, build, sell, trademarkTM? CHECK
PVP'ers where corps can figure out a specific fighting style, with their unique fleet of ships and tactics applied to those ships, where skill matters alot more, and how you use your toys? CHECK
Database load not massive as it's a new system, that is built from the ground up, no need to remake all those old ships / mods? CHECK
Think SWG crafting system, think awesome eve pvp where you play to your strenghts, and your industrial backing has the special mojo for your corp that you ordered, and then are using to the fullest to stomp on oppnents
I r thinking this is T3.

T3? How about ships that can jump from star to star rather than using gates. Just think they could then add a load of new systems without gates that would need T3 ships to reach.
