I'm using paypal to pay all the things I buy from the internet, but whenever I pay with my credit card they take the money out of my checking account. So now I have negative balance in my checking account wtf? does anybody have this problem? I'm trying to call them tomorrow and place a claim. Hope they will do something about it. |

for me, I knew I didn't have enough money in my checking account. So I used my credit card but they took the money out of my checking account. no matter which card you use they will take the money out of your checking account. |

Yeah as far as I know your bank credit/debit card automatically defaults to checking.
One process that I really like with my bank is the change dump. Each time I make a purchase on the card it rounds it to the nearest dollar and dumps the excess change into savings which builds up so in case I have an emergency where I need a little extra in the checking I can transfer it from savings. Other than that I don't touch nothing in savings. |

I agree with that whole heartedly although living in a society based on credit makes it really, really hard to accomplish anything. I'm constantly told I don't have enough credit for this or that which usually equates me to needing a co-signer. Getting my house was absolute hell.
But I don't believe in credit cards. I don't believe in paying 3 times as much for an item over time just because you can get it on the spot. I don't believe in being bound by any more bills than you have to be.

Paypal wont touch credit cards, as they see them as direct competition.
So no matter what you buy using paypal, its coming out of your main bank account. if you want to buy something on a credit card, you will have to use google pay or direct using your credit card.
Im supprised that they are even allowing you to register a credit card with them, as in the UK, they have dropped drawing from credit cards for over 1.5 years.
your better off closing your PP account and using googlepay
best of luck

Credit cards are only a problem if you see them as available money that you pay interest on, rather than simply a method of payment with a built in 'buffer'.
It's interesting that people who don't like them always view them in the former way. Like the counsellor said to the hologram, you're projecting. -

You can override the payment method to use your credit card, but it will default to an electronic transfer from your checking account every time.
Paypal will give you a load bull**** about this, but the real reasons are that Paypal doesn't have to pay a transaction fee to Visa, Mastercard, or whoever when they do an ACH transaction, and such transactions aren't subject to chargeback (which is expensive, even if it's reversed Paypal is still charged a fee, which they'll pass on to the seller but if the account's empty they can get stuck holding the bill). And chargeback fraud on auction sites is rampant - got hit once myself, was reversed but I still ended up eating a $100 fee for the trouble. ---

As long as you only use pre-authorised debit cards. The others are similar to a short term credit card. It's only when you go OD and the bank stop the card that your card gets declined, if they don't stop it in time, you can go OD by quite a large amount if you don't keep tabs on what you are spending.
