I was out mineing the other day in poinen and a recon ship showed up in the belt and i swear the person had 50 light scout drones hovering around him.
so im wondering how you can control more than 5 drones

Other people can have their drones assist him. He cannot directly tell them to "go there, shoot stuff", but whatever he engages, they will too. Only his own drones can be instructed as normally.

He was alone though
so the drone rigs allow you to use more or does that increase your drone capacity

i don't think you can directly control more than 5 drones concurrently.
Unless you have a Guardian Vexor. Who's the rudest of them all! |

It is possible that a carrier/mothership could have sent his drones to attack the recon ship. Fighter drones launched from carriers/motherships have the unique ability to warp and chase their prey throughout the entire system.

This is one of those rare 'proof or stfu' cases tbh..
Issue 1: only fighters can warp, drones can't, so if the recon ship showed up and had 50 light drones hovering around it and it was solo, then all those drones had to be his.
Issue 2: amarr recon has 150m^3 drone space which means 30 light drones max in drone bay.
Issue 3: There are currently on TQ 9 ship types with the ability to control more than 5 drones (carriers, motherships and the guardian vexor) of which the motherships can field 25 max.
Basically the way you might have seen this wrong is a little something I sometimes do: launch drones and abandon control, an amarr recon with only light drones could do this until there are 25 'dead' drones and 5 'live' drones around him. Why? Who knows, boredom perhaps, but still if he's solo 30 is the max. Even then he can only control 5..
All the stuff above does not necessarily reflect my corp, my alliance or even me.. Drone guide.. |

poinen is a 0.6 no chance a carrier or mothership would have been there unless they like looseing there ships
