So anyone know a place to buy them for the Fanfest trip?
Because of the recent slide in Iceland's economy the few outlets that do sell them have suspended their selling.
Would the Bureau d'Change at the post office do them?

Yeah I've been trying to sort the same thing :( really don't want to use my credit/debit cards in Iceland because of the related charges overseas.

Order some from your local bank? Should be possible to do so anyway. Most banks won't have much foreign currency in stock anyway. (they'll usually have dollars and euros, but not much else)
Otherwise there should be exchange services at the airport, but the exchange rates tend to be worse compared to what your bank would use. (most likely day-rates)

You can't get it in the UK.
You have to use a card or take a bundle of cash. /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

I managed to get Icelandic Krona from my postoffice 2 days ago with no issues.
There's a 48 hour waiting period as they don't stock it as a common currency, but there was no issue getting it.

Iceland is the most cashless society I have ever encountered (and yes there is a very obvious joke to be made there). Every business other than the public busses and parking meters accepts credit cards. Even the pizza delivery people have handheld units that dial in through a secure mobile network. So if you do not manage to get all the isk you need, either bring your entire budget in pounds sterling, euros or dollars and exchange it at one of the places downtown or bring a small amount of cash to exchange at the airport and rely on credit card purchases for most of your stay.
Note that depending on when you arrive, the exchange counter at the airport may be closed. But the flybus service does accept credit cards.

We emailed the Icelandic tourist board about this situation and they basically say that there will be no problem exchanging money in Iceland. In fact they want as much of it as possible!

Bureau d'Change should definitely have ISK. Most banks will run a system called CHAPS allowing you to purchase currency too, although this tends to attract bigger charges.
Alternatively, you could open a bank account that doesn't charge for overseas use for the occasion. Plenty of banks do them, and from personal experience I know Nationwide Building Society do a current account with no overseas fees. ------

I tried the post office in Broadgate circle right in the middle of the banking sector and they didn't have any lol
Tried Barclays and Travelex. I ended up checking with our Icelandic buddies and the hotel.

The chances of any bank actually having Isk is very small, but you should be able to order any quantity you want, should only take a couple of days to be delivered to the bank where you can then pick it up.
