I've got a Caldari main that's getting into Raven skills and looking at level 4 missions, and an alt that will be mostly involved in pvp, eventually. I have an Apoc fitted for sniping, but I've read that Amarr doesn't work well for Caldari missions. My main has training in Caldari ships and missiles, so I want my alt to stick with non-Caldari ships and anything but missiles. So my question is: Based on that criteria, whats the best race/ship(s) for assisting Caldari missions?

Any of the Gallente drone or gunships probably, Kinetic damage is usually the preferred damage to deal on missions for Caldari (exceptions happen ofcourse) so Gallente's Kinetic/Thermal guns should do just fine, and drones like missiles can deal any type.

Gallente -> Dominix
Makes a great match with the Raven in mission running, utility highslots (remote rep and salvaging on the go), all the tank you will need, and DPS that your raven account can direct if you set your drones to assist the raven. Ability to select damage type with drones is also an obvious plus.
Also, Domi is a great pvp ship for solo work/small gangs, and the megathron is still very useful in fleets

Okay - I'll have to start looking into a Domi. I was a little more interested in being able to tank with the Raven and sit 50k-100k out on my alt and snipe - what would be the best ship/race for something like that? I'd rather not rely on drones, just as a personal preference. And am I correct that Amarr isn't great for Caldari missions? If possible I'd like to make it work, but if another race is better I don't have a problem training something new.

in my personal opinion id choose a raven over a domi for level 4s but thats just me

I like the Domi, but don't overlook the Tempest, it's totally pwnsauce for all missions.
Wait, you meant to actually run the mission, not run the mission runner?

Amarr is only useful for Amarr-missions, and even then it's matched by the Raven/CNR/Golem thanks to all non-EM-vulnerable missions and tracking disruptors. No, don't fly Amarr BS for Caldari-agents.
Look at the crystals you fit on the lasers, see the damage types. Then check what stuff is vulnerable to in missions. There's the problem.

The best Gallente sniper would be a Railgun fitted megethron (that tracking bonus comes in handy)
Amarr are a bit problematic for Caldari missions because of the simple issue of resistance.
Most NPCs weak to Kinetic (and often thermal) will have extremely high EM resistance (Guristas especially), making Amarr laser boats rather counter-productive because of the massive reduction in DPS they receive because of those resistances. In general i'd say that Gallente makes the better partner for L4 missioning in Caldari space, especially if you have the Raven to back it up.

I'm running the mission on my main in a Raven, I'm just looking for a good ship to tag along with on my alt.

Yeah, I saw that. I was just wondering if there's a way people get around it, or if they just don't do it in the first place, but you guys confirmed what I thought was the case.
