Hello all !
I was playing a bit with the Ore Calculator tool on EVE-I.
I noticed some things:
1) Training any of the <put ore name here> Processing skills further than level 1 won't give out more ore when refining. I have read somewhere that this is correct since those skills will become useful when Mobile Refineries will come into play or if you happen to refine in a station having its 'Equipment' working at less than 50% (dunno if they exist in game, I have never met one till now).
2) Making a refine with Refining Efficiency skill at lvl 4 or at lvl 5 will give out the same amount of minerals !!! Hmmm... how can this be?
All my testing has been done with the following values (which are the values of the station(s) where I currently refine my ore): a) Refining skill = 5 b) Chosen Ore Processing skill = 1 c) Corporation-To-Character-Standing of the station you are refining at = 0 d) Recycling Constant = 37,5% e) Station Equipment = 50%
It looks like if 1) The 4% bonus given out by Ref. Eff. lvl 4->5 is overwritten by the 5% bonus of the lvl 0->1 Ore Processing skill. 2) The 4% Ref. Eff. lvl 4->5 bonus comes back if considering a scenario with a station having less than 50% on its Equipment.
If I figured it out correctly it all boils down to the "Station Equipment % thingy", do such stations (ones having less than 50% on their Equipment) exist (this making the lvl 5 of Ref. Eff. skill worth the training)?
If I did not get it, why do I get those results (refining with Ref. Eff. skill at lvl 4 or at lvl 5 giving out the same amount of minerals) ? Where have I been wrong and how does it work?
Any help will be appreciated !

Edited by: Blackpool on 02/07/2004 02:31:47 The reason for this is that training refining or refining efficiency doesn't increase the amount of minerals the ore yeilds it just reduces the amount of minerals lost due to waste when refining. So there comes a point when you reduce the waste to 0 and additional skill is useless.

Full service stations, ones with all 9 services, have an efficiency of 30-40% (can't remember exactly). Having Refining and Refining Efficiency both at lvl 5 plus ore specific skills increases your refining efficiency, but obviously you can't get more than 100% refining efficiency. So increasing your ore specific skills only help at full service stations and at Player Owned Structure stations and eventually Mobile Refineries. |
