Its of course CCP decsiosion, but allowing a free week now in this, as a friend has put it, lag central seems a weird idea.
Maybe would be better till at least the lag problems are gone?
I am haveing a nice deja vu of beta playing atm.

Well it's just a PR stunt, there have been no new user records since they starting giving out 7 day trials on file planet. They just want to try and get another waste of space record with waste of space trial users :(

Lets all try to be positive guys, this is our game no matter what, and it doesnt suffer as much lag as allot of mmorpgs

Among those trial users there will be some that will stay with EVE for many months, some that will stay for years, and some that will leave. That is a good way to keep the population growing.

Among those trial users there will be some that will stay with EVE for many months, some that will stay for years, and some that will leave. That is a good way to keep the population growing.

If you check the site about 20 other games have the same offer, that while there are enough sites who can gaurantee a single week for a game to publish itself and give a unique PR campaign.
Also MMORPG in my opinion isnt a site what takes it lightly with honnest reviews, i suspect them to be one of those sites who would sell their soul and give false ratings for the first screenshots and playerexperience.

Poor Decision.
Why would you attempt to give away 14-day trials ATM?
Just to show how bad the game can be? With All the negative posts lately about node crashes and game problems in general you'd think you guys'd get the hint. Things here aren't quite up to par.
You do realize a 'trial' offer is to get the person to 'try ' the game to see if they'd actually like it and continue a 'PAID' subscription. AND you would probably have a better chance getting said person to join if things WERE up to par.
I would love to talk to your marketing department.
Realize this. In the real world.
For every happy customer, they go out and tell 1-2 people about
thier good experience. 
For every un-happy customer, they go out and tell 10-12 people about thier bad experience. 
You do the math for the long run.
I THINK that's what your MAIN problem IS atm. CCP believes that everything with the game IS good atm. TRY trolling the boards and actually listen to what people are saying about your game.

Actually, their records were not due to Fileplanets 7 day trial, they were because of all the Earth & Beyond players who went to try EvE after the shut down notice.
And I don't think it's a good time, either. Cloak nerfing, LAG... combine that with the tedious newbie experience EvE has, who is going to stay? You may argue that EvE has unique alliance PvP system & fleet battles, but if a new player is constantly frustrated during tutorial/gameplay, is he going to stay to see that?

The thing about these kinds of deals is they are actually arranged a while in advance, and this is actually 3/4 weeks after scheduled patch deployment and hardware upgrades, and i dont belive that CCP would have gone through with it (or indeed they may have already delayed it) this week with another patch to come next tuesday.
For all their apparent naiveity, i very much doubt that CCP would still be in business if they were stupid enough to schedule this last week with all the current problems...
...then again mussolini was a bit of a prat and managed to run a dictatorship for 20 years...

I started playing like 4 days ago. Im a new user and I like the game. Sure it lags, but I assume it will be fixed do to everyone crying like babies. It's a fun game none the less. I quit Dark age of Camelot to come play here full time. Daoc doesn't care do to the massive players who play. My voice wont be herd to them nerfing Rangers to hell. Least here in a small community, people will hear me better. This is a good thing, to have less.
