What Am I doing Wrong ?
My Hulk takes about 25 minutes to fill its 17,199.1 m3 cargohold at which point I head back to the station and drop it off (rinse and repeat . A guy in my Corp says he retriever can mine 30,000 m3 in 45 minutes and can hold 130,000. m3 .
So he is doing nearly twice the amount I do .He can stay out for hours while I have to keep going back to the station.
I have spent about 20 hours reading up on minng in the last few days . I guess it is not computing.
My fit is Strip Miner I x3 with cargo hold optimization low slots and rigs.
btw I can fly an Orca and he can Not fly a hulk as far as skillz go.
any feed back would help, meanwhile back to reseaching . |

It means he has 2 accounts and is storing ore in an orca, which is also boosting him, by up to 55%
he also doesn't need to fit for cargo (been ages so I can't remember whether or not you can get an MLA on a non cargo fitted retriever for even more boost).
Hulk can fit 2 MLAs if its mining into an orca + orca boost, get you out to nearly 75% more than you do solo fitted, and not have to warp as much. |

Thank you for the feed back I guess that makes sense.
AM I mining roughly the right amout ? My Hulk takes about 25 minutes to fill its 17,199.1 m3 cargohold at which point I head back to the station and drop it off (rinse and repeat .

It takes 15 minutes to fill my Hulk's 14000 m^3 hold. Are you using T2 lasers with T2 crystals? |

As the kindly gentlemen above have pointed out, you are not yet optimized for the best mining yield possible with your Hulk, because:
1) You're fitting for cargohold rather than yield 2) You are not using the best possible mining equipment just yet 3) You're mining solo
Some suggestions to greatly improve your yield: - Train up for T2 Strip miners and the relevant crystals - Train up mining drones, and use them - If you're not using a survey scanner, get one and focus on mining out only the asteroids with the most ore in any given belt - Get someone else (An alt, a friend, or a corpmate) to haul while you mine. Best way is to join up with a good corp who do mining ops together, and make full use of someone else's Orca - If you continue to mine solo, find a quiet sector where you can jetcan mine and switch to an industrial when you need to haul the ore back to the station - If you decide to do one of the latter two, you can then kit out your Hulk for best possible yield (Mining Laser Upgrades, Drone mining augmentor rigs). That's roughly 27,500m3 every 20 minutes or so, even more with Orca boosts. |

t2 strip miners really help out, but you HAVE to use the corresponding ore crystal or you will be worse then t1
next he is using an orca alt, which means he doesn't have wasted time to and from station, plus mines faster with mining laser upgrades. |

the retriever can cover 30000 m3 in 45 minutes if you use Giant Secure Containers, its better that way... |

It should be pointed out that if you only have two accounts, then two hulks mining is better than a hulk and an orca.
An Orca doesn't become "worth it" unless you already have 2 hulks mining - and that's at max bonuses. That being said orcas make logistics much easier, so that's another consideration to take into account. |

Yes and no. 2 hulks mining and jet canning and using 2 MLUII will out yield per hour an orca + hulk. Hauling directly to station, or not using 2 MLUII per hulk will yield less per hour.
There is a thread all ready with all the details but to summarize:
2 Hulks mining and jet canning and using MLUII: 188,996m3 2 hulks mining and jet canning and NOT using MLUII: 128,958m3 2 Hulks hauling directlly to station and using MLUII: 136,000m3 1 hulk + orca (plus additional boosts) and using MLUII: 148,762m3
