I saved up and bought Alienware. Worst experience ever...long story short (convo me in game for full details) 3 years...terrible support...multiple returns to them and full replacement and that ones given up after 6 months too. Avoid
And as I said convo if you want to

I had an Alienware a few years ago, it was the biggest piece of **** laptop I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They even managed to out-do Packard Bell for shoddy craftsmanship and service, which is quite a feat.
It took them two months to ship it, when I got it the RAM was bad. Replaced it, had to call Microsoft to get Windows to activate as they'd used the same key to install god knows how many copies instead of the one on the sticker.
After that it ran OKish, except during any kind of heavy gaming it would overheat and crash. Eventually the video card burned itself up and when I got my replacement (a month later) I founnd out why - they'd installed thermal tape such that it was BLOCKING the vents on the bottom, so there was no air flow.
Patched it up as best I could, but I still had frequent (though no longer constant) overheating issues. Eventually the RAM failed again, and about a year after I got it, the video card died again and I found out my system was no longer supported so I'd have to scrounge for a replacement. Instead I sold it for scrap on E-bay and got an HP, which lasted several years until I got my current laptop (an EEE, which as I said above, runs Eve just fine if you can live with the tiny screen - I've been doing almost daily pvp and fleet ops out as part of Factional Warfare and the only issue I have is that I can't get on voice, which is more because of my crappy connection than the computer itself. It's really a great piece of tiny hardware, I'm still in shock that it's so cheap - it's spec's (aside from screen size) are actually superior to my old laptop which I played Eve on for years when I was away from my desktop).
TLDR: I'm not the only ones to have these problems with Alienware - search CNet or any reputable site that posts user reviews. Don't buy the hype. Don't buy Alienware. You WILL be sorry. ----- My in Eve Profile My BattleClinic Page |
