In Warhammer you could simply type in /rvr to enter open pvp mode on the fly. Naturally you would have to have your opponent do the same. This wouldn't prevent getting ganged however. But it's a simple trick CCP may or may not be able to implement.

I actually suggested something similar (flagging yourself), and zulu responded promptly that it reminded him too much of WoW.

You flag yourself for PVP by pushing the LOGIN button.
Not quite. You get flagged for PvP when you activate an offensive weapon type of module on a target. I can't just go in and pew pew, well I can but it would be a good way to waste a lot of isk.

On a serious note.
What would be wrong with it, thematically it works out. Both parties agree that they will do without the assistance of CONCORD. Think of it like a brawl on the street. Maybe if it's in high sec but a 15 minute timer or so until CONCORD comes(or as previously mentioned not at all). Just some ideas.

Or you could just drop 1 piece of ammo.
I thought amarr ships don't use ammo? |
