Blasters will actually be boosted, since it will be harder for your enemies to get out of range.
But of course, the whiners haven't considered that.

Blaster ships are the ones that absolutely need a MWD to get close. It'll be harder for them to get in, and keep their targets from getting out, of range.

Actually, that has already been discussed at length.

I really dont understand the whining about the range aspect. Their web suffers from the same nerf as yours does. If you must whine about blasters then at least use tracking and complain about how you will have to actually fly your ship to maximize it.

One thing must be said. While the mwd shutting of by scramblers is a problem for blaster ships sometimes, no one here has a clue how many warp scramblers will actually be used on TQ.

Wont you be fitting a scrambler and a web? so you mwd into scramble range they turn off your micro warp and you turn of their micro warpdrive... net effect is the same as you both running a micro warp drive right? so how does this actually hurt you other then slowing everything down so your blasters track better?
Only weird stuff comes up if they are running an after burner.... but thats a whole nother level of strategy...
anyways the way i see it blaster boats are getting boosted by this, since they can still keep the same speed ratio between the other ship onl the speeds are slower so they can track better? am i the only one that see's it this way? |

There's plenty of technical discussion by these so called 'whiners' as to the problems with blasters post-patch; effective tracking cut to 1/4 reducing real DPS, time on target increased due to lower speeds reducing real DPS.
It is simply absurd to claim this is some overall 'boost'. --------------

#2 is not caused by #1. #2 is caused because gang sizes in 0.0 are larger, and thus blasters are simply a *bad idea*, even completely discounting nano ships.
The real question will be how often blasters will be used in their historic home - lowsec.

Tbh, I find it amazingly trivial to kill blasterboats (did not test on BS level ofc) in Minmatar ships on SISI. They just can't close range.
I don't see them working well, but oh well. Some people will probably cling to them. Free loot.

And on the bright side, you don't have to train FOTM because you almost certainly already have it trained. :P

Kronos only for me now.
The devs are a bunch of f#ckups when it comes to ship design and game balancing. Due to the recent changes, the 'mission running ships' have now become the best overall PVP ships in the game, if only because every other ship is crippled by comparison.
While the Paladin is a *great* PVP ship, as is the Golem, (the Vargur is just a mess, I admit) let's take a look at the Kronos real quick:
8x gun equivalent: more gun based DPS = better around gates. Because CCP hates drone users. Guns use half the cap, and generate half the heat, for the same DPS. Huge advantage. Tracking bonus of the Megathron, even more critical now with the latest nerfs. Low ammunition consumption (faction ammo can be expensive). Higher base speed, better agility than all T1 blaster ships and almost as good as the Vindicator.
Active tanking bonus of the Hyperion, really strong cap recharge rate. Extra low means same tank as Hype, with more gank, or even more tank than the Hype, even if it's down by one rig slot. Increased T2 resists- every little bit helps. The web bonus. Even *two* webs won't get you a -90% speed reduction with the upcoming web nerf. Giant cargo bay: you can hold plenty of ammo (remember, low ammo use) and still stack in the all important 800 cap charges. Like around 35-37 of them.
The downsides: horrible scan resolution. Takes forever to lock anything. Terrible sensor strength, can be jammed by a single light ECM drone. The upshot: smarties remove drones just fine, and if you're faced with a Falcon, it doesn't matter what your sensor strength is, you're getting jammed anyway, so it's a moot point.
With the Kronos, CCP has created a brilliant blaster ship, save the sensor strength and the scan res. Let's just hope those noobs don't read this post (as they've seen fit to skip over all the rest of the blaster posts, not just my own) and decide to nerf the Kronos into oblivion.
Meanwhile... the PVP oriented BlackOps ships remain useless. GG CCP.

Well I use blasters in 0.0 all the time.
After the nerf it will be tricky to get close (not so much an issue for me, because I fly frigs), but once you are close...there is no way the victim can run away :)
How I see the nerf: Same size ship vs. same size ship will change perhaps dramatically and can be quite difficult (as it should), but small ships vs. big ship should definetly be fun (for me).

That sounds good to you? It's 'good' that the only viable blaster ship in the game, besides AFs (and that's debatable), is a 1.5 Billion ISK ship? Not to mention the near mandatory requirement of a second account for an overwatch Falcon, just to counter-jam enemy Falcons so that you're not a paperweight.
I'm only able to use the Kronos the way I do because I'm max skilled and have enough ISK that I can lose a few and not worry about it. But in order to make it workable I'm still looking at faction modules and some tricky flying to make sure that I don't lose it to some idiot with a 10m ISK AF.
I think it's stupid that it has to come to flying a Kronos like the above to have a workable blaster BS. Whatever. Amarr BS 5 finishes up in a week. CCP sucks all the fun out of this game.

Of course. What?
Flying a Taranis / Ishkur until you train for 3 years so you can fly a Kronos is perfect, that way you don't waste ISK on useless stuff in the process of training
In before whiners saying Kronos is obviously overpowered since a AF can't solo it
Quote:
CCP sucks all the fun out of this game.
Obviously fun is overpowered. Else the target of the patch wouldn't be solo PVP in general.
