About 3 months ago I read a random post in MD saying Alloy Tritanium Bar's (ATB) are about to increase in price. I had some spare isk lying around and knew I wasn't going to be playing as much due to a new addition to the family, so could spare having it tied up. And as predicted by the nice man, Jita sell price is around 180k at the moment I bought at 140k if my memory serves me right.
Does anyone know the reason behind the increase?
Oh and yes I wished I had bought more lots more :) |

No one willing to point me in the right direction. I have been trying to find changes to loot tables I believe there might have been a change about a year ago? So it well of been a prior manipulation that he was trying to work on/finish.. And I have just lucked into the tail end of it.. |

They are used in astronautics rigs. Cargo expanders etc.
Angel missions drop them.
I didnt see talk of this spike but I can't help explain why they spiked either. Take the money and run I guess. |

I'd say it's due to the shift from missioning to incursion. Signature removed, CCP Phantom |

No. Armor plates have dropped and tripped power circuits ain't quite what they used to be. Not bad... just lower. GÖ¬ They'll always be bloodclaws to me GÖ˝ |

I'm showing Armor plates are up 10k each from a month ago, small drop yesterday but not enough to make a difference. |

When I started about a year ago I was getting about 180k fer APs and 110k for ATBs... they've pretty much switched since then. Dunno why, but it's been interesting to watch. Can't tell you what they were at a month ago, I don't pay much attention to the short term prices. I figure I'm gonna sell em for the best price at the time.
If I follow the market too closely my brain will seize and I'll be forced to pod myself. GÖ¬ They'll always be bloodclaws to me GÖ˝ |

i fail to see connection between 1 salavge item going up in price while all others stay about steady and the price or oppurtunty of astroids

The more people there are shooting rocks, because of mineral price increases, the less people there are shooting rats that drop salvage.
If there was a particularly popular item (as trit bars have always been) then a small change in supply can have a large change in price while demand stays relatively fixed. Likewise less popular items could have a supply disruption but not change in price all that much since they were not popular to begin with.
This leads to a concept known as elasticity. It attempts to measure how changes in supply, price and demand impact one another for a particular good. |

^ Yep, what he said. Add in to that that anyone left running missions could be hoarding loot. I wouldn't be surprised to see a price drop right after Escalation comes out next week. |

I think a particular player has been moving the price up. A few weeks back while I was placing buy orders for these, the same person placed multiple buy and sell orders for these at 2500 units each. Since then, I've noticed these orders since they are always at 2500 units. I'm not familiar with the exact strategy, but if one were to constantly increase and place buy/sell orders for a particular item, they could slowly nudge the price up. I reported them as a bot since they placed about 9 orders simultaneously.
Of course I could be an idiot and have no idea what I'm talking about but that's my theory and I'm sticking with it! |

Market manipulation by a single person. There is a specific pattern he does every day and presumably once enough buy orders have built up behind him (probably in the next few weeks) he'll crash the market and make a few billion. |
