Just built myself a new system consisting of the following:
WinXP Pro Athlon 3200+ ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe 1GB of Dual Channel PC3200 RAM
and I'm having some cooling trouble
My old system ran at under 30 celsius even after playing Eve for 13 hours straight but this new system is wierd. The case temperature is around 34 celsius but the CPU temperature is running between 50-60 celsius which is WAY hotter than I think is safe.
I've got 3 80mm case fans, a coolermaster fan and heatsink on the cpu and the ATX PSU fans running.
Does anyone know where I can buy pc cooling kits? I would rather buy a bundle/kit than buy a few things from several shops.

My cpu temp never changes, must be a bust sensor or something, keeps showing 64.4degrees celcius, but its worked fine for a year so no complaints. As for further cooling your case, seems that you've got quite enough fans there, you could invest in a cpu blower fan, supposed to be better than usual axial fans Linkage A new heatsink may help aswell. ------------------------------------------

Try http://newegg.com, might find what you need there. Conversly, a google search for PC Cooling Kits.

First of all, if you previous system was a regular air-cooled AMD, I really REALLY doubt it was below 35C at load. Second of all, 60C ain't too much, it can handle that for maany years. No need to be worried either unless you want to overclock.
Besides, if you buy a (usually crappy but still) complete computer from "known" companies like compaq, dell etc you'll see that with standard equipment they probably all run hotter than 55C.

The biggest single difference you can make to case temps. is a blowhole
Even without a fan I had temps drop by 10 degree's. Stick a fan in it and she dropped from 60 to 45

A big arsed Thermalright copper sink with a 90mm fan. That will keep yer CPU nice and frosty (I cant remember the model number exactly)

That'll tach me not to trust CPU monitoring software, if that's the case
However, there's a very definite difference. I can feel the heat when I put my hand over the fans and inside the case.
overclockers.co.uk sorted me out though with a big copper heatsink and 80mm fan and a vga card cooler.

Edited by: Faster ThanJesus on 04/07/2004 19:36:33 Josh, I've got an Athlon 64 3200 (newcastle core) Fat Coolermaster CPU fan and a hefty Thermaltake 5 fan alluminium case.
My CPU idles in the high 30s and hits high 40s after long periods of strain (sometimes topping 50) - not dissimilar to what you're getting.
This new system (3 weeks old) has been absolutely solid for stability though.
Honestly, don't worry unless you get stability issues - the sensors could be wrong and the chip will live long enough in the 50s.

Could be that your old system was using a thermal diode in the socket but the new one could be using an on-chip diode. That would give you a more accurate (but higher) reading.
This happened to me when I upgraded, at least you can trust your mobo monitor software if it agrees with PC Health Check in the BIOS...

My system case temp is usually 40-50C and my CPU 80-100C
The AMD chipsets run higher, 60C is not unusal, and dont worry about your case temperature too much.
My machine is stable as a rock.
Your Tachyon Beam Laser I places an excellent hit on arkad [MOO], inflicting 702.3 damage.

Josh, grabb a showel of snow and pack it into the PC - that should cool your comp . Or just put your PC-tower in your freezer .
