Well as most of us know by now EvE is rapidly becoming Titan's online, and things need to be sorted.
Here is my proposal, and please do not flame I for one would love to get a Titan one day and terrorize people with it and this suggestion will pretty much guarantee that I never own one.
Here it is.
Titan goes into a 10 min siege cycle when it sets off doomsday, just without the no remote reps penalty. This will put them in the middle of a fight, and they can easily fit to tank/get remote reps.
This will ensure that those who use them are willing to loose them, especially when they bring them to engage small gangs.

I would suggest that Titans arent meant for small gang warfare.

one of the better proposals that has been brought up on the topic. Thank god its not another nerf DD, bull **** thread, thank you for addressing the actual issue; the fact that they are completely useless at anything but the drive by DD.
A titan simply does not have the tanking capabilities to have a standing fight with a fleet of caps or even BS.
Ive personally felt that giving them a seige module would be a bit over kill, but however they way youve proposed it, giving it a 10min siege timer after DD would be extremly usefull. It would also stop drive by's as the titan will have to wait out the timer to hide itself.

tbh just remove its dd, give it twice a dreads gun bonus, some extra tracking some pimping tanking ability and your done. They stand and fight rather than the current drive by machines that they are today

Problem is that CCP wants the titan to get rid of lag by killing lots of hostiles fast.
Also Titans have very poor tanks when you consider what they are and how much they cost.

I like the idea
But instead of a siege mode exactly like what dreads have, why not something a little different to spice things up.
Allow Titans in their "siege" mode to absorb and utilize a % of the energy (damage) directed at them. They would then literally become damage sponges.
Make it so the absorbtion field would become more efficient the more damage it absorbs, but lose efficiency over time as well. Remote repping would not affect the ship when the Absorbtion field is active.
This would essentially turn the titan into a ship that you HAVE to kill slowly, and will almost certainly kill last. If you pour massive damage into a titan to try to kill it quickly, that absorbtion shield will quickly build up and incoming damage would drop, allowing it's internal repairers to potentially keep pace.
The Titan's own fleet could shoot at it to keep it's absorber running at a high efficiency!
heheh it'll never happen, but it would be interesting if it did.

Well, I think instapopping under focus fire is an issue a lot of ships face, not just titans...and I'd also like to see some rebalancing done to multiple DDs before any titan buffs go in

bolded the important bit, and I think the need for them to kill lots of ships quickly to reduce lag is a bit odd seeing as the after effect of a dd is crippling lag

Yep. I logged in tonight to a call to defend a POS. 8 seconds to fit my afterburner, I logged back out. Been there, done that, bought the T-Shirt. Another Apoc lost to lag? I might as well strip fittings, go outside station and SD it. The insurance is the same and I keep my fittings. |
