I have a friend who hasn't created a character yet and he is getting some problems when he starts his game client.
Here is a link to a pic of what his client looks like upon starting: Eve Error pic
He has all the newest drivers installed, along with DirectX 9.0b
His specs are :
Mobo: intel 875PBZ
processor: P4 3GHz
video card: radeon 9600 (catalyst 4.6)
audio: audigy 2 ZS gamer
RAM: 1024MB DDR400 Dual Channel

think it might be the 4.6 drivers causing the problems
get him to either downgrade to 4.1 or try the 4.7 drivers (theres a link to them a few posts below this one)

Hi!
I had the same thing...
What worked for me was running the game in
Win 98/ME Compatibility mode.

Yep, same thing happened to me (and is still happening).
And yes, setting the compatability to 98/ME worked like a charm! (Although I lag every 1 second or so).

Had the same problem to and it was my drivers for my radeon card that was messed up.
The newer the worse it gets. Try getting a older driver.
