IF this pastebin is not a troll when it comes to datacore changes (that is, ALL datacores seem to be moving away from being purchased with RP), then I must say I have concerns about CCP Soundwave's mental state. I'm treating him as the main man behind this whole datacore change thing because I have seen nothing to suggest this isn't so. Anyway, I think something is seriously wrong with his head because he seems to have been completely unable to process the very valid criticism of his datacore changes, both from industrialists and FW people, and seems to have been unable to comprehend any suggestions offered in place of the, let's not mince words, completely ******** idea he put forth to be implemented.
I'm thinking it's either something like the Dunning-Kruger effect ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect ) or early onset Alzheimer's. Since he's been apparently unable to communicate to a wide concerned audience on this here public forum the reason for why he thinks this idea is superior to any and all much better suggestions put forth by players who know what they are talking about, I'm also guessing he's suffering from some impairment of motor functions. Otherwise surely he would have been able to defend this change, or in case this isn't what it seems to be and datacores aren't just moving to faction warfare LP stores but instead something else is happening to them, I would assume any developer in a sound state of mind and bodily health would have been able to take some time and explain wtf this is all about seeing as how any change (even a totally amazing and sensible one, which I'm still kind of hoping for) is of interest to people who deal with datacores in one way or another. I'm not a fan of the passive income stream either, to be sure.
Otherwise what is this i don't even |

Well he shaved that god awful beard he grew over the winter and he lost weight. So, I'd say he's doing pretty well right now. Sometimes, the best thing to do is have a random moment of compassion. |

Dunning Kruger is a cognitive bias, not a condition.
The rest of your post is incoherent. Perhaps try restating what you are trying to communicate: you don't like the passive income stream from data cores? You don't like the suggestion of moving data cores to the FW LP store?

Please next time read Magic Crystal Ball precautions and description before using or it will affect your mental health. You really shouldn't open your lousy mouth because you have no idea how awesome Inferno will be. |

Cost of datacores go up, price of everything else goes up.
Just like any tax, the producer doesn't pay the tax, the customer does.
So if you're a nullseccer I would be against this change, otherwise your stuff is gunna be more expensive. |

Which is what the game needs. Everything is too cheap.
Unlike other games where making things more expensive means more mandatory grind, there are tons of low and mid tier ship classes that are very capable that are rarely used. If anything higher prices will make battlefields more dynamic. Instead of BSs+carriers+titans, maybe it will be a more varied mix of more affordable ships...
I'm really liking soundwave's approach. Instead of reducing payouts, which would cause months of forum whining, they're simply making the build materials more scarce.
It would be a shame to lose the research/datacore system though. Many of us (including me) have invested quite a bit in getting research characters skilled up. They should just increase datacore costs by 2-4x and also add them to FW in addition, or perhaps tie the datacore RP costs to FW somehow.
It's not really worth discussing right now though. The pastebin may be fake, and even if not it came from Chaos, which is pre-sisi even. |

The FW loyalty store honey pot already has too many advantages to it. Best POCO rates (last I looked), best faction ship rates (inc. a few mods) .... and now they want to make it best datacore rates? *sigh* That's, imo, giving way too much. |

Okay, this may or may not be relevant to the topic at hand, I honestly can't formulate a valid opinion simply because I'm ignorant as to the mechanics of datacores (Can you tell I'm a seven year vet?)
That said, there is an important and often unperceived notion that just because something impacts you negatively does not make it a bad change. It's just a change that impacts you negatively. Even a change which appears to sodomize everybody in the short term may have longer term benefits. You calling a game developer mentally handicapped does not speak well towards convincing me of your rational thinking capabilities. |

Personally, I am of mixed feelings about this change. As long as existing research agents will still provide data cores I am happy. Any fee that is charged to obtain data cores from R&D agents will simply become a production cost that will be passed on down the line, assuming FW pilots aren't stupid about flooding the market with cheap DCs and devaluing their LP. |

You know, we've seen with nullsec that it is possible to place too much of "the good stuff" into one uber system. If we move data cores to concord LP (and nowhere else), that could get bad.
A runaway inflationary spiral is possible. If you pressure both datacores and minerals in an environment where transport is becoming increasingly difficult, things could get bad. I remember the time when datacores were expensive enough that invention could not place downward pressure on 500m isk hulk prices.
If CCP isn't careful about these changes we will have a market event that causes things to happen. I can't really predict what these will be. I'm not sure we've ever had a recession in the EvE economy before. |

This is just an extra bonus for old t2 bpo holders. As long as they don't need datacores it just means that the lucrative t2 markets are still shut down, and the inventors have even worse condition to compete with them. So instead of old t2 bpo will be responsible for 75% of all t2 ships, it will become 80%.
In fact it mostly means that inventions is even more limited to the new stuff.
The ones having problems with their mental state are the ones (like me) that invested SP into invention skills. |

I have research agents and it is way past due that they changed them. Destroy them all, they are a horrible, unfun mechanic.
Bit early to panic and get upset over this, wait for the relevant devblog first. |
