why is tomb dropping falloff for large blasters?? i thought this guy worked for eve not against it. these turrets are getting more butchered as time goes on. small blurb in his post about "decreased if performing too well" but nothing refering to falloff, just cap use.
why damnit. things WERE NOT broken. things were working just fine.
grrrr!!!! 10km!! and dropping it on us one day before patch day.

Falloff used to mean "the distance after optimal at which you have zero chance of hitting something" Now it means "the distance after optimal at which you have 50% chance of hitting something."

What about if the falloff is inside the optimal range? What does it mean then?

That sounds like a personal problem.

They are getting a tracking boost in exchange, which was badly needed. Maybe now a megathron can orbit its target and actually still hit it.

Falloff is added onto optimal range. if you got optimal 40km, falloff 20km that means that between 0 and 40km range won't affect your changes to hit much, from 40km till 60km your chances to hit based on range drop towards 50% at 60km.
The falloff changes aren't a nerf, Neutrons especially where hitting way too far out. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Well - weŠre talking about blasters and that means with AM ammo about 4km optimal range and 18km Falloff. To cut the falloff of the blasters is VERY hard. 40km optimal and 20km falloff is a good example for 425mm rails where falloff isnŠt such important.
With my large blasters I almost hit nothing below 5 km so the optimal range is worthless for blasters, the falloff is what matters and defines the area where the blasters are useful. I doubt that the gain in general tracking will equalize reduced falloff which means also a loss of tracking in the range of optimal to optimal + falloff - for large blasters within 4-22km.
I doubt it because the current tendency is to nerf and disadvantage battleship users. Each path gives them more handicaps (Raven excluded). |

What I don't understand is, how do you get falloff in space?
Protect me from what I want.

Edited by: DeFood on 06/07/2004 08:01:38 Well, im putting lasers now on all my Gallente ships now. Loosing my hybrid weapon bonuses doesnt seem to be any great loss. a 20% damage boost on zero damage because I keep bloody missing is useless. With lasers at least I can actually hit stuff.
Time sto start training for Amarr frigate and cruiser I suppose. Turf this @#$% useless throax.
