Ok, so I saw one of the new big stargates. It was awsome! Great work on it! (I saw the Gallante one)
But I only saw that one gate, and I jumped around between other regions (within empire) and only saw the normal ones.
So how many gates where actually changed, only some regional ones? Was something done about the lesser ones? And how big a region must it be to get teh big gate (since apparently not all regions had new gates between them, only the one leading from a 0.7 to a 0.0 system I found)
And if you want, post some pic of them for eye candy pleasure :)

Not sure if there's a major diff between premium and standard clients, but wow, these new gates look amazing. As others have said, those border gates are monsters. The animations for jumping look very cool as well.
Have yet to see Caldari (other than the pic here in this thread) and Minmatar ones myself. Very cool addition, even if all it adds is a more distinct way of knowing when you're doing a particular type of jump.

Since mobile bubbles were also nerfed, namely the range, gates will be harder/more expensive to lock down. Takes a T2 large bubble to cover the new massive gates now.
Alternatively you can place the smaller bubble in line with in/out gates and hope to catch the prey when they warp there.
Derailing the thread a little, sorry :(

My guess is they hadn't finished the animations yet. (Only smaller Amarr gates and the 4 border gates were showing them) The Gallente gates had their old animations on SiSi too. They probably dropped them from the expansion to complete all of them before deploying them.

New Gates (that I can recall)
Amarr: System, Region and Border. (The constellation was the default Amarr gate type pre-QR) Gallente: Region and Border, while the constellation gates were fairly uncommon before, they did exist. Caldari: Region and Border, the system and constellation gates were available before. Minmatar: haven't been in minmatar space in a long time, so wouldn't know.

Ok, in all seriousness, the new gates are TEH SEX. Although to be honest, I thought the Gallente one was the Amarr one! Look at the vertical towers that make up the center of the Gallente gate. Look familiar? They should. they have the same basic design as most Amarr space stations. Other than the less golden coloration, you could see how I might have confused those. NOT A COMPLAINT. I think they look dead sexeh! Now that I've seen the Amarr gate proper I can easily tell the difference.

that statement right there is EVERYTHING thats wrong with this "expansion", its full of bad things; with possibly the orca and the certificates finished (apart from the fact whoever drempt up the cert requirements was smoking crack).
never felt that negative about a ccp "expansion", i use it in the loosest sense of the word.

I never doubted it. That's why I used the term "expedite" rather than "work on".
Thanks for the link, that presentation had some exciting content! If this stuff makes it into EVE in March next year I'll be more than happy.
P.S. With both CCP and NVIDIA in one room I can't believe no-one from the audience asked about AA+HDR issues for premium graphics engine!!! ...

Yea that was me that released the images of the Acceleration gates 
They were never released on SiSi, they just left the unfinished model in one of the SiSi patches.

So I guess making the gates huge for region/constellation jumps is a nice way for CCP to tell small gangs (inty/dictor pilots get the brunt of this) that they have to try harder to tackle?
Was making some gates so huge its impossible for solo pilots to tackle anything out of region gates intended and discussed with the community whatsoever?
Future apologies if I havent scrounged around the forums with a keener eye and missed this somewhere. |

the problem with adding new acceleration gates is that even if CCP put them ingame, all the missions are still coded to use the classic model gates. Thats why on missions like The Blockade, the gate in the center is still the classic gate. I have a feeling their going to release all the mission object graphics in one big Trintyesque update. __________________________________________________ I was Amarr before they were the FOTM and I'll be Amarr after it! From what I can remember off hand, there's approx 14000 individual stargates all told. Some of these types will have been seen before, since I think most 0.0 gates were Amarr or Gallente. In addition to those listed above, the Smuggler gates have been updated, to look more sexy

It sure was news to me.
No way to catch stuff jumping through a large gate without a large gang with several dictors or several bubbles. A nice way to improve blob warfare even more. Way to go ccp.....
I guess I should be thankful for that as it makes it easier for me to run back to the gate (or actually just jump back through) it when I travel solo.

The Minmatar gates are nice  I think that in the future im going to fall behind during ops just so i can line my ship up and into the "portal" of the gate before activating the jump.

Dismantling the old gates, and constructing the new ones all in less than 24 hrs must have been daunting.

Have yet to see Caldari (other than the pic here in this thread) and Minmatar ones myself. Very cool addition, even if all it adds is a more distinct way of knowing when you're doing a particular type of jump.
There is a difference at least with standart client for minmatar gates I'm aware of one: gates within a constellation are the new ones, between constellations are still the old ones
