Edited by: TheMailman on 12/11/2008 12:11:11 Now that the patch has hit tranquility with a wrecking hit, its time to think out of the box. Perhaps most underrated faction battleship of them all, the fleet tempest, has some potential now with its extra middle slot.
My KNIFE is fit with the following:
[Tempest Fleet Issue, THE KNIFE] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Armor Explosive Hardener II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
100MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Scrambler II Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Stasis Webifier II Warp Disruptor II 100MN Afterburner II
Dual 425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP L Dual 425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP L Large 'Vehemence' I Shockwave Charge Dual 425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP L Dual 425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP L Heavy Energy Neutralizer II Dual 425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP L Dual 425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP L
Anti-Thermic Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I
Hornet EC-300 x5 Infiltrator EV-600 x5
EM THERM KIN EXP 74.5% 69.7% 52.2% 73.1%
EHP : 162,704 -------------------------
At first glance, the mwd/ab combo might feel a bit uncomfortable, but once the reasoning has been clarified, it can only be called brilliant. When this boat gets in range, it has the undeniable ability to dictate range. While the target is as slow as Post-patch-nanophoon, you will be enjoying luxurious speeds of the minmatar battleship line at close range, recieving the glorified effects of missile nerfs.
While this beast only has 162,704 EHP it is far more than needed, because cap warfare seems to be the latest trend in eve, and with the help of heavy neutralizer and the neutralizer drones, cap superiority is guaranteed. This capacitor related warfare is further reinforced with the fact that the Autocannons do not consume any capatior themselves. While ships with missiles can still keep on firing without cap (where the ecm drones come handy), the speed combined with the excellent signature radius of the glorious minmatar ships, will be sufficient to take the beating for a long while.
While the dps of the ship might seem low, do remember that the ability to choose your damagetype, is more than sufficient to exploit the resistance holes of your enemies. Combined with the facts that your own guns do not require any capacitor and have top-of-the-line tracking, these guns will prove themselves as the undeniable kings of close combat, time after time.
As a final touch the smartbomb can be either used as defensive weapon against incoming swarms of drones, but it can also be used as offensive weapon if You have lost all your drones, since You will be in total control of the engagement distance.
What could be done to further improve this, perhaps, the best battleship in game ? (with the exception domination ammo and faction mods)

Yes, it's truly amazing how fast the Tempest can go. Mindblowing. _____________________________ Entering the Intergalactic Summit forum is like walking into a Startrek convention; All you'll see is a bunch of nerds and you'll go "WTF?" |

Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

Losing a plate for a gyro might be decent idea, however, the painter, after the patch everyone seems to think painters somehow makes everything better (than before the patch), really, noone fit them before patch, why fit them now? |

Edited by: Stygian Knight on 12/11/2008 12:36:03 Edited by: Stygian Knight on 12/11/2008 12:35:42 Because you will be able to hit smaller ships much better. (think of it as "second gyro" against smaller ships)
P.S. If you can fit MWD instead of AB, do it. It's still a lot better, You basicly use it only to get in range and to escape gate camps.

Edited by: madaluap on 12/11/2008 12:40:26 Edited by: madaluap on 12/11/2008 12:38:56 The setup i run:
6* dual 425mm II ac 2* solace remote rep
1* c-type mwd 2* dark blood web 1* true sansha warpdis 2* heavy capinjector II (800)
2* T2 large repper 2* Amarr navy energized adaptive 1* DCU II 1* 1600mm reinforced rolled tungsten
1* explosive pump 2* aux trust
low-grade slaves
Im not at home, but thats the setup i run. You are capgod for the time your charges last. Will handle multiple enemies, but i need to update it for the patch though :)
Thinking about AB and replace remote reps with 1 neut and 1 large smartbomb like you suggested...if it all fits. no clue atm _________________________________________________ |

I have to ask why use 425II? The Tempest already has a Double Dmg Boni Id stick the biggest meanest guns on it.. 8000II..And im sorry but not one Dmg mod? I under stand it got a Extra Mid but please.. I think If i was goiong to use a Tempest Fleet in PVP id be inclinded to treat it like a Blaster Boat...Call me crazy.. Hi 6x800II(Hail or what ever) 2xHvy Neuts Med Warp Scram II AB II WEB II Sens Boost (scan res) TP II TD (Track Speed) Low 3xGYRO DCUII ENAMII 1600 R/T Rigs 3xTriMark Drones ecm
I like how is looks on papper. I have no clue about DPS or armor hit pts... Just think of this as a 1600 Ruppy with 800II-Hail- insted of 220II-Hail- Pwnage new and Improved! Role Players.. The same D&D kids but now they are 30 and balding.

ppl use d425mm over 800mm because the range is about same, damage difference isnt so big, beter tracking, able to fit 2 neuts or other stuff in the last 2 highs.. --------

While the ab/mwd fitting is perfectly viable if you've got the mids, and i do use it but only on hacs, the difference an ab makes to a cruiser is huge, whereas this only benefits against torps and seems strange.

Well actually, Eft dmg is kinda same but if you take the range stuff in to calculations, that damage differs more at around 10-15km.
I would say 1 plates and 2 gyros are better. More speed, more damage more dictation range possibility =) And you can drop the distrupter for a painter ( it was always good and it will be always good,it really enhances your tracking against smaller ships while boosting your party)
