I just can't help myself, after a conversation or two with some CSM ppl.
I'd like thoughts on this deal, just wondering, can anyone see any major functionality flaws in this argument?
Once you're in the POS shield you're safe anywho.
Just wondering about this, as when the discussion comes up regarding POS's being changed (over the next year for sure) can anyone think of an idea modular pos's shouldn't be dockable?
(Obviously not with market etc..).

I honestly don't see a reason why not.
Also let us access all of the stuff we have anchored nearby, such as the hangar and stuff, just like a real station. From a real station menu, would be pretty neat. |

Yeah I was just thinking might even be able to do corp contracts in there?
I mean if they going to "redo POS" for the foreseeable future, why not ask for the moon ?

Well as a miner one thing always bothered me and that has been the inability to make a standing corp contract for ore from members. And as they get ore - of any amount - they can just dump it into the contract and get money instantly.
Perhaps it should actually be added as part of the station services and could be included in the dockable POS.
This would be a great new feature for corp hangars at these POS.
Also I think docking would allow WH guys to feel a little more like everyone else in the game and be able to see the beautiful room ;)

There is only one reason why it's not possible at the moment. . . If the POS is destroyed, while pilots are docked, what happens with all the pilots and their assets?
It is the same reason why null-sec Outposts currently cannot be destroyed, because there is no mechanism to handle docked pilots.
If they fix that problem, (they say they are working on it) then it is entirely possible.
A couple of ideas while I'm thinking about it:
Personal POSs: smaller than the small, but able to be "launched for self", but require specific skills to anchor and manage.
Dead Space POSs: De-couple POSs from moons, and allow them to be anchored in dead space. (requires scanning to find)
Moon Interaction: Replace moon mining with moon interaction, similar to planetary interactions. (this need a more in-depth explanation)
Solid Modular Design: The design changes depending on what is fit to the POS. (Think T3) |
