5 sections to each ship. 5x5x5x5x5=3125 combonations giving different aspects to each race...
not sure if that will be 3125 combotions per class of ship or not. but certianly 3125 per race at least...

Has it been confirmed that you can use ANy type of combo?
for example: Hull module 5 and Armor Module 5 would mean that you couldn't use Speedmod 5, only Speedmod 1. Stop whining. |

Hmm, are you sure they are mixing the hulls for new looks or is it just mixing the bonus's/attributes? EVE history

Each hull section brings it's own slots/stats to the mix.

from what i have heard... they wont be more powerful in anyway to t2. they will prob be same strength or even less than some of the t2 available at the moment. prob wont get t2 bonuses, and probably the bonuses will be geared towards fitting the modules together.
To expand on this, i expect that your hull choice will give bonuses on been able to fit certain module element combination, while preventing you from fitting others. So you prob wont get the t2 ship bonuses, making them most likly less powerful than t2. But due to your ability to set up for one single highly directed job make them very interesting and good to use in 'gang' situations.
from what i gather the main idea is customisable, which probably means you can arrange the bonus mods, the highs/lows, power/cpu etc. Which could potentially give us some highly spec'd ships with full 8 rack of large t2 blaster neutron set ups.... however paper thin prob due to having all the modules primairaly used for for the guns.
a specilised jammer could prob be setup for 8 mids and no highs, or well atleast 1 for the cloak... however you might find it still dosen't have the full bonuses a falcon gets....
I forsee a tank set up... picking a hull that has high powergrid, adding modules to increase the lows and powergrid... using stupid amounts of 1600mm tungstons on it, jump it in and tank!! |

The more I think about T3 ships, the more I am certain that the 3125 number is pulled out of thin air by marketing for the wow factor.
Each module corresponds to a certain part of the ship, right? Front-, mid- and aftsections, you get the idea. Well, can you build a ship out of pure midsections? Most likely not.
That limits the options considerably, as you can only make your choices on one axis of the "chart", not two. By my math (which I do not guarantee in any way to be correct) I can only see 425 possible ship configurations. It's still alot, but it's barely 1/8 of the claimed amount of versatility.
Could someone help me verify this? |

T3 ships and modules, would be glad to see modules that are more affordable to high skilled players that aren't faction based.
At the minute most faction modules can be fitted by low skill players to offset players using t2 modules with high skills.
I think this is somewhat odd considering that t2 is meant to be the bee's knees.
Think of the different between t2 cruise missile launchers and ammo with say a caldari faction cruise launcher and faction missiles. The faction variation does massive amounts of damage for less penalties.
Before the patch I was seriously considering not bothering with 2 lauchers and missiles for the faction versions instead.
But for t2 versions to shine you need massive number of skills, where in the faction version requires very little skills to fit and use effectively. After all specialisation skills don't always affect faction modules and ammo.
Just my view on the subject.

You got 5 different front sections, 5 different mid sections, 5 different aft sections and 5 different sections somewhere in between and another 5 different sections somewhere in between. So it is correct.

For each front section you can fit 5 possible midsections, front section 1 + midsection 1, front section 1 + midsection 2...etc. So for the first pair of sections you have the choice of five midsections per frontsection, 5 x 5 = 25 = 5¦ For the engines you have five options per midsection option in the same way and therefore (5 x 5) x 5 = 125 = 5¦ For each component type available the power increases, with five available the possible combinations are ((((5 x 5) x 5) x 5) x 5) = 5^5 = 3125. --
